Round the Track....Again and Again and Again
When planning for this day, I had consulted with He Who Must Be Obeyed. DS really loves this ride too and he had wanted to get on this as many times as possible. So, I'd booked FP+ for this ride because it was going to be a super busy ride. Yup. Super. Busy.
So yall know that I'd already gotten on this ride 3 times during EMH. I'll come clean now. I actually got on this ride 6 times before Future World even opened up. Yes, I was going round this ride again and again and again. This time with DS and DH.
I know I'm going to be flamed but this was one of two instances where I double-dipped on the entire trip. Despite having a FP+ booked, I also claimed a FP- with our KTTW on this morning. As it wasn't busy, the return time for the FP- was 40 minutes in advance of the time I pulled it.
We also got on the single rider queue, which was walk-on, in between to pass the time and complete the trifecta.
I will say that this was the system in place in October and as the system was still officially in testing mode, I figured that Disney tacitly knew that the testers were going to do this.
Okay. Back to the moment.
It was now that I realised how 'cheated' the single rider side of the queue was where the car customisation program was concerned.
These design stations were a LOT of fun.
We were all engaged in the activity.
Well....perhaps the boys were engaged in the activity. This would NOT have been my chosen design for the car. It is rather 'boys and their toys', isn't it?
And then it was on to the sim-cars for a spin.
There are four different tests that the car undergoes in the new redesigned track.
I guess that there has to be some General Motors advertising displayed where this ride is concerned. And because I'm bitter, twisted and cynical, I thought the testing really is a trumped-up marketing spiel for their OnStar system.
The first test. In the capability test the car accelerates past a rain/snow projection and skids out of control.
The sim-car speeds up at this point and makes a sharp left turn....
....as a lighting bolt strikes.
The second test is all about efficiency.
I didn't get this 'eco-efficiency' part. It didn't seem very eco-friendly to me.
The second part performs an aero-dynamic test on the vehicle. We sure reflected a lot on this part of the test.
The third test.....responsiveness test time.
After some dodging and weaving, our sim-car encountered the 18-wheeler truck. It seemed rather familiar.....
....even when all lit up with Tron-esque lasers!
The final test is power where the sim-car stops for a moment then accelerates through flashing purple arches leading to the outside portion of the ride.
I've already posted pictures of the outside ride earlier; so I'll just share the parking lot pictures that I got. Afterall, I did have six attempts to get some of them in-focus.
In the Chevrolet Showroom....
....both my boys were very taken with the canary yellow Camaro.
Boys and their toys!
And our photopass pictures from two of the rounds. As before, there was lots of wind in my hair.
