Anyone from Scarborough, Ontario area?

Lived the first 25 years at Kennedy and Lawrence. Spent the next 20 years defending it. Both my parents were born and raised in downtown Toronto. They moved to Scarborough for a house with a yard, and a safe walk to school, libraries, etc. We never locked our doors at night. I currently live in a condo downtown and am looking for a small bungalow (with a yard). Scarborough is my first choice.

i am a scarborough girl too. lived my first 18 years at kennedy and eglinton and now am at bellamy and lawrence. went to winston churchill c.i. (kennedy and lawrence). what a small world. ºoº

I lived at Brimley between Lawrence and Eglinton, so I wasn't too far from you, Toad and jaz4! I went to Thomson but my cousin was a big football star at Churchill in the 70's. When I went on a trip to Europe, I met a guy in the Hofbrau Haus in Munich who went to Churchill! Small world!

Awww Bluff Parties was there anything better. Problem was I went to Birchmount and sometimes a quick trip at lunch turned into the entire afternoon.......lol.....don't let my kids read this....

I was born and raised in Scarborough, met my hubby who was also born and raised. Me Victoria Park and Danforth area him Victoria Park and Lawrence. Had 1 of my kids in Scarborough but have moved north of the city over 15 years ago and had a country born child.

However, I am less then a hour north so I would be in for a DIS meet.

 Hey - we just moved in March from Vic Park and Danforth (Eldon Ave).

I grew up in Guildwood (south Scarborough), did Guildwood Jr. Public, Jack Miner Sr. Public and Laurier C.I.(class of 1993) we did the bluffs parties at lunch too, had a path out back of the football field. Now I live in north Scarborough. I am always on the look out for the mickey antenna toppers, i have over a dozen (it is worse then pin collecting, i collect but don't trade!) so honk is if you see one!

 And we moved to Guildwood!!! We LOVE it there - so quiet, nice people, nice houses, good schools. We are really happy where we are.

DH is born and bred Scarborough. He grew up around the Pharmacy/St Clair area - went to Clairlea JP for a while and a few others. Went to Porter for high school.

I can't say the same for me - born in Aurora.

But when DH and I met there was no question that we were going to live in the 'East End'. DH can't stand the West End and consequently I can't find my way around much west of Avenue Road lol.

Anyway, neat to see so many of us from around here - who knows, we may know each other and have no idea we are each DISrs. :teeth:

My DH and I both went to Porter. I grew up on the East York side of the East York/Scar. border. But I went to school in Scar. at( with the exception of 2 years at Notre Dame) Our Lady of Fatima.

We moved to Mississauga ( 3 years ago) from the Birchmount / St Clair area.

Nancy

P.S. DH and I both graduated from Porter in the late 80's

OK, so DH was born in 1969. I'm not sure when he graduated? I guess around age 16 or 17? So maybe you know him. He has a pretty unusual name - it is 'Stony'.

I think I know of your Dh. What I mean is we weren't in the same circle of friends but his name is unusal and that makes me think I remeber him. Gesh small world. I may have to dig out my old year book and look him up. :rotfl:

Nancy

P.S. I am a year younger than your Dh and my Dh is older so I don't think we would have been in of the same classes.

I'm
CABMOM's dh (took me forever to learn what these infernal shortforms stood for). Grew up in the heart of Scarb. (Agincourt). Went to Leacock as a kid, graduated in '90. Worked at Agincourt CI for couple years after. Lived Birch/Huntingwood, where my folks *STILL* live (unbelievably).

Know many of the areas being mentioned in this thread..still go down to Scarborough once a week, come heck or high blood pressure.

This is only my second posting in probably as many years (2-ha..I'm so sad), but the Scarborough locale seems to be as a good a place as any to hang out. As for arranging a Scarb area DIS meet, I'm all in.

And another thing...when I post, I see my user name, along with a picture of a MM ears hat, and it says earning my ears....what in tarnation does that mean?

Cheers.

My mom (msmere) went to Porter, as did my aunts. One of my aunts is now living in Aurora- her husband was born there. Small world, isn't it?

CABDAD- The picture is an "avatar" which you can change my going to 'User CP.' The "Earning My Ears" is your user title- when you post a certain amount of posts, it will change, for example, 'Mouseketeer.' You can also customize your user title by going into your profile in your user CP.

:wave2: Well I grew up in the beaches went to High Scool At Malvern and for a few years at Sir Wilfred Laurier, lived with my DH in an apartment in scarborough until we moved to Barrie 6 years ago. Being a true Scarbirian (??) for the time we lived there - I couldn't tell you who our neighbours were! We lived on Eldon for 7 years (1998-2005) and I knew the first names of our 'North' side neighbour but that's about it. We did use words to describe the others though - the Greek guy across the street, the house with 7 kids, the drug-dealer house etc etc LOL. In our new neighbourhood we are trying to be more 'neighbourly'. The community in general (Guildwood) seems more apt to have a 'neighbourhood' feel.

You are definately right though - small world for sure!

I love the guildwood area still, but when we bought we went with a condo. It was weird one of the houses we looked at was a childhood friend's home, and I just couldn't buy it knowing the history that took place there, the parent's divorced. I hear they are looking at tearing down the Guild Inn, for more houses, how sad, I loved taking walks on that property.

i lived right on Guildwood pkwy, from 3rd(1982) grade right on thru grade 12(1992) when we moved just close enought for me to finish high school at Laurier C.I.

Went to King the last year before it became an "Academy" and the 3 years following.... 1986-1990. How about you?

My cousin (Chris) and sister (Becky) are King graduates- my cousin would have been a year younger then you, Becky graduated in 1994.
