Hello everyone!
Just wondering if anyone here is from Leesburg,VA or around that area? Or if you don't live there, have visited there? My boyfriend is a firefighter and we are traveling from Pennsylvania there soon because he is taking the firefighter testing for Leesburgh,VA/Loudoun County. While hes taking his test, I wanted to check out the area because we quite possibly could be moving there if the testing goes well etc. The main "attraction" was: Leesburg Corner Premium Outlet shopping. Other then that the Historic District. I am going to research more(but would love to hear more about it from someone that lives or been there--that beats any research! ) about the area and places to visit around the fire academy. I hope its easy to navigate around the area as well!!

I go to leesburg for a conference. It is a cute town, but waaaaay out there. Seems like you drive forever. You are only about 30 mins out of dc, and the outlets are easy to find. Also look into tysons corner that is also about 30 mins outside of leesburg. I don't know what else you need, let me know if you have any further questions. Im not a pro but do go there every year...

We live about 30 miles south of there. Leesburg is one of the outer 'burbs of DC and some people do commute in from there. You're in the thick of "horse country" there.... very pretty with rolling hills and horse farms dotting the landscape. It has a rural feel and is known to be fairly wealthy (the horses are the tip-off :. You'll likely get a colonial vibe as that style architecture pops up all over (tastefully done). Leesburg itself is not a big town and doesn't seem too difficult to navigate. But traffic in the whole DC Metro area is a challenge and a little snow seems to freak people out ; My sense is that it's a great place for families but investigate how much there is for young adults (I don't know). In closer to DC would have a lot more going on for you but the cost of housing goes up as you move east. Also have him check out the cost of living - it be higher than what you're used to. You can go even further out or even into WVa to get cheaper housing so that's an option.

I don't have much to add about Leesburg. It's pretty, it's developing, and yes there is the outlet mall. Not much else. I think, though, that it is quite a bit farther than 30 minutes outside DC.

I live like 10-15 mins from Leesburg... This area around here mostly newly developed. Leesburg is kinda like the boarder town between the real country and the suburbs. By country I mean some farms, animals, houses on multi acre lots, lots of room. To the other side of Leesburg there is a lot of new contruction. A lot of the stuff didn't exist before the the 90's... ehhh. well maybe just in the town that I live in. Idunno. Its a decent area. A lot of people like it. I was a teenager not so long ago and we could never find anything to do so we would get into trouble. I would look into other areas like Ashburn, Sterling, Brambleton, Broadlands... LMK if you have any specific questions.
