Eisai Babe:

We promise not to laugh at your accents if you don't laugh at ours. Mine is more Philly then Jersey but in my part of Jersey that seems to be the norm.

My kids are DS12, DS10 and DD7 and they are really looking forward to the cruise. I've shown them this thread and they are thrilled to see that there will be kids there age there.

AnneB:

I found an over the door shoe hanger at CVS last week for just over $2.00. I think it was on sale but it is normally only $3.00. I'm sure it's not top quality but I think it will get us through the week.

It's good to see that Monmouth county residents (present and former) will be represented during "Jersey Week". I'll be here (in beautiful coastal Long Branch) to keep an eye on things while you're all enjoying yourselves.

Don't forget to post trip reports (includng how many other "Jersey" people you see!

Any other girls out there who are 7 and 10? I am starting to throw some stuff we need to bring in a basket, but still have a long way to go before we have everything we need to bring!!! Hi TVLCELLAR and LUVTOGO. Nice to see more families travelling with us. We have 3 children also TVLCELLAR.

I think I've gotten all the snorkeling equipment ready, reserved the banana boat ride and talked to some of the children's teachers about missing the 6 days of school. It is getting close. We're in the 40's now for our day count, I think.:D

I'm sorry, but I may not be able to keep that promise. ;) Of course, I understand that our accents are laughable at times too, so it's okay. One of the things I really enjoy doing with my "Yankee" co-workers is comparing the differences in cultures. It's quite funny - at least to me. :teeth:

I told DS12 about other kids his age (of the guy type) being on this cruise. He said "AWRIGHT!". I think that's sort of universal for "great!." :p

Eisai Babe:

It's true that accent isn't the only difference. There was a thread earlier about sweet tea and then it went on and on about all the different foods Southerns eat. I'm afraid my drive will be longer on the way down as I try to find restaurants along the way where I can sample some of what I read about.

Although, I'm sure I'll never find anything as good as a really good Philly cheese steak.

Moon Pies, RC Cola and Country Ham Biscuits. Now that is Southern food! Sweet tea....is there any other kind?

For the record....while a southerner, I do NOT eat Moon Pies.

Eisai Babe....We are in your neck of the woods any chance we get. We're big Duke basketball fans and come to NC for games any time we can tickets for home games at Cameron. Is you 12 y.o. any chance a Duke fan?

Count us in too! We are from Lanoka Harbor and we are first timers and really looking forward to this cruise. My DS is 5 and nephew 7 and they can't wait to go that is all I hear about now. Can't wait to meet everyone see you all soon.

AnnaB: Yes, ice tea with sugar. But not sugar added at the table. Sugar put in when the tea is still hot so it is all melted and really sweet. My understanding all tea in the north is served unsweetened. As you are driving down and stopping for meals...By the time you hit the mid Atlantic states, you'll be asked sweet or unsweet. By the time you hit Georgia....there's not even a question. It is going to be sweet!

Hey neighbor, we are right down the road in Forked River!! We will be on the cruise also, and my daughter (10) goes to Lanoka . I have two dd's looking for some girls on the cruise. I am still looking for some snorkeling gear, and my dd wants to parasail:rolleyes: . I am hesitant in making that ressie!!!!

My son goes to Cedar Creek and plays soccer at Hebrew Park. The familes we are traveling with there are two girls I believe both are 7. Your dad is going is that right? My mom is going with us. It is funny that we have seen each other around town and now what are the odds that we are going on the same cruise. I look forward to meeting you all.

Boy-Lotsa Jersey Folks going.. Great... You can look for snorkel gear at Sports Authority or try
ebay. ebay has alot of snorkeling equipment listed. We have are own stuff and for what is charged to rent gear you can buy new...Cheers, Gary

I just got snorkel gear at Sam's on clearance for $20. (The kids set is down to $10. I believe) I comes with fins, mask and snorkel and a great bag to carry it all. I found short fins at Walmart on clearance for $15. I also saw all the snorkel equipment on clearance at Target last week so it is a great time to go out and get a bargain.

I keep adding to the list all the things I'm bringing along. I'm sure I will be one who comes back after the trip and posts about how I packed too much. Just can't seem to help myself.

I am glad to hear that there is other 7 year old girls going also. My neighbor is also going with her dh and 3 yr old, and my husband is going, not my dad. i know my 7 yr old will go to the club, but I am not sure about my 10 yr old? I am not worrying about it though, if they go they go, if they don't it is o.k.. I will check out the snorkeling gear on ebay, I used to be addicted to ebay, now I am addicted to the disboards!!

My friend just told me there is only 1 girl in our group that is 7 and her daughter who is 4 the rest are boys. Check BJ's too that is where I got my gear from. But I wouldn't worry it seems they love the camps. Oneperson I spoke to told me she couldn't get them to want to come out of them. I still can't believe how many people from NJ are going it should be nice I keep hearing so many good things about it.
