Anyone from Jersey on the 11/2 Magic Cruise?

psimon:

Washington Township is off Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri and the following Monday. (It use to entire week but the Monday holiday is off schedule with the conference this year.) They schedule teacher conferences for the beginning of the week which is wonderful for us if we want to go on vacation. The teachers are great about doing the conferences earlier or later.

I knew there would be a family from Cinnaminson on the boat. My DH grew up with a large family in Cinnaminson and it seems no matter where we go he knows someone from when he was younger. Chances were a bit higher though this year with all of us from NJ on the boat.

It's getting closer. Can't wait!

Sweetspot: Actually we are on the 11/3 Wonder (see my earlier post) I was just saying hi to all you Jersey people, as we are not getting alot of response on the 11/3 thread!!

My husband and I both grew up here and we are going with 3 other families all from Cinn-city, so I am SURE he would know one of us!!!! (probably my husband, he knows EVERYBODY and also always finds someone he knows everywhere we go!!) I guess it's just that kind of town!! Have a great trip and let's sail together in 2004!!!!

TMcG88:

That's what I get for not paying attention! I hoping to be there in 2004 and hopefully 2003.

It is that kind of town, most of his family still lives there. I hope my kids are able to have the same type of experience where we are. I hope you all have a wonderful cruise!!

Our schools are off Thursday, Friday, and the following Monday which I am glad so we all have time to unwind..

Of course we have no days off and my three will miss 6 days each. Ouch!

We are on the 11/02 Magic and also from N.J.. Disney Cruise Line called yesterday with our flight information. They also gave an 800 number to call for seat assignments. When I called, I was told that I could not get seat assignments because it was a group and the seats are already assigned. It turned out that myself, dh, and ds were not seated together. I explained that at least one of us has to sit with my son. After much debate, I was connected to someone who changed our seats so we are now seated together. I forgot to check on the seat assignments for the return flight. I called today and was told that the plane is full and there is no way that they will change our seats. They could not tell me where we were seated because they do not have first names and there are 5 people on the plane with our last name (hard to believe since our last name is not common). Two of the five people are seated together and the other 3 are not near each other. I then called Disney and they said not to worry, if I call the airline again and if I am really nice they will change the seats. They said the airline always holds 30% of the seats for emergencies so the plane is not full. They also said that it is ok to change our seats that day in Orlando. Has anyone had any experience with this? We are flying out of Newark.

We almost had the same problem with airline seating assignments on our first cruise in 2000. We let Disney do the airfare then too. We were able to get the assignments changed, but they didn't HAVE to do it. This time, we did our own. :)

One thing to keep in mind....if the horrible happens and you cannot get official seat changes, ask the person next to your DS if they will switch with you once you are on the plane. Or, the person next to your DS may be willing to switch. Either way, someone will surely let you get a seat next to a kid. Sad eyes from kids always help. ;)

Good luck. Let's go cruisin!! :Pinkbounc

If the eyes won't do it, make a big tadoo with your child about where the air sick bag is, comment on what a weak stomach your child has when he flys......betcha the one flying is the person seated next to your child....flying out of that row and into a different seat! Problem solved.;)

Eisai Babe and my3kids, Thanks for the great advice. I'm sure that it will all work out and that I am worrying over nothing. If all else fails, I will remember the air sick bag solution (that really made me laugh!).

JOANNE

WE FLY EVERY YEAR WITH OUR THREE KIDS. ALMOST EVERY TIME WE ARE UNABLE TO GET SEATING TOGETHER WITH OUR KIDS. IT IS TRUE THAT THE AIRLINE HOLDS 30 PCT OF THEIR SEATS FOR ASSIGNMENT AT AIRPORT, SO IT IS IN YOUR BEST INTEREST TO GET TO THE AIRPORT AND CHECKIN AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. WE HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM BY DOING IT THIS WAY. OF COURSE I ALWAYS TRY TO GET SEATING IN ADVANCE BUT IN MOST CASES IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET 5 SEATS TOGETHER.

Just curious ? Has everyone gotten their doc's now ? Because we haven't...and I'm so anxious!

Nope. No documents, no letter regarding Amex White Glove early reservations, nothing regarding booking excursions 60 days out. I know I still have a while to go but it's frustrating when you know others receive these things and I haven't received anything. Next time I will book direct rather than give all control over to a TA.

It seems as if the documents started trickling in for our cruise last Friday. Ours should be here soon.

AnnaB: Nothing for us yet either. We booked through Costco and they told us to expect them about 1 week before the cruise departure. I'm guessing since so many people have received them that DCL probably Fed Exed them to Costco and they will hold and mail them in about a month. Hopefully I'll be surprised and they will show up soon though. I hope so!

We booked directly from DCL so maybe thats why we received already but I'm not sure if TA has any control over when the documents are shipped. Cheers, Gary

Just an observation regarding getting your paperwork....

We are travelling on the 11/2 cruise with my parents. Our cruise was paid for with cash. We have our paperwork. My parents paid for their trip with DVC points. They have not received their paperwork yet! Part of the problem is that DVC holds on to the cash until the very last minute. I suspect that as soon as DVC pays DCL, the paperwork will be in the mail!

Not sure why DVC has to drag it out (other than wanting to milk every last tenth of a cent of interest out of it :)). My parents received the excursion booklet only because they knew we had received it and called for one of their own!

Just a possible solution for your lack of documents.

THEY CAME!!!......Well sort of. We have 2 cabins booked. The documents for 3 of us arrived, but the package for the other 2 isn't here yet. I called to check and both were mailed the same day(yep, regular old US Priority Mail) so the other will likely arrive tomorrow. Everything looked great.

Yeah my3kids!!!

I paid with Amex a month before it was due, no points involved so I don't know why mine would be held up. Is it usual that all the documents are sent out at the same time or are they staggered?

Last time we didn't get our docs until about 2 weeks before sailing, so not having them now doesn't worry me at all. It's okay......well, sort of.... :( No really, I'm not worried, just jealous! :p

Can't wait. Can't wait. Can't wait. Can't wait. Can't wait. :bounce:
