I'm taking my hubby to the Packer Hall of Fame for a graduation present, and I'm hoping to find a kind of romantic hotel in the Green Bay area. Something with a pretty and relaxing vibe. Something near the lake would be great. We don't mind driving around a bit.

Any recommendations from the locals???

sturgeon bay is about 40 miles away and might have more romantic options for you.

Green Bay is amazing. I live in Wisconsin (45 minutes from GB), but love going to GB! There is a waterpark hotel close to the stadium. Wish I could help more hotel wise, but I live pretty close. If your DH is a Packer Backer--he'll love the stadium AND the Packer Pro Shop. (A fave of mine.) :cool1: There are other great things to see and do in Green Bay---enjoy!

How about this:

Never been there, but have heard its pretty nice. It's not by the lake, but it is right on the Fox River.

Lambeau Field is awesome, there is so much to do in the atrium even during the off season. Have fun!

I just wanted to 2nd the James Street Inn (never been but have heard good things). Of course going a little further out to Sturgeon Bay/ Door County you'll find tons of nice places. It is the Martha's Vineyard of the Midwest (or so I hear). There is also a B&B called the Astor House in GB--but I don't know anyone who has stayed there. It looks nice online.

Most of the hotels I can think of in GB are nothing special. I think there are several on the river (I have stayed at the Holiday Inn several times--nice river views and has a few bars, etc within walking distance), but I don't recall any on the bay itself. Nothing wrong with them--just normal hotels though. I think the tundra lodge has whirlpool suites (a little more romantic than your average room). It is not far from the stadium.

I also think the Copperleaf in Appleton is nice (about 1/2 hour away) and right downtown, in the heart of the restaurants, performing arts center & nightlife. It has a decent spa (BenMarNicos).

The Packers opposing teams stay at the Radisson Paper Valley in Appleton also downtown). They have a very nice restaurant called Vince Lombardi's Steakhouse (a bit pricey, but definitely romantic & in keeping with a Packer weekend).

Oh, another good restaurant in Appleton is Flannagan's Wine Review. The talk around town was that Johnny Depp recently ate there (he was filming in Oshkosh a few weeks back).

OK, I'll stop now...can you tell I know more about Appleton thatn GB? :)

I am from the Green Bay area. There aren't really any hotels that are on the bay unless you go to Door County. The bay is really filled with industry, woods, and houses. There are some on the Fox river. The Holiday Inn is located in Downtown Green Bay near the Neville Public Museum. The Regency Suites is near there as well. Green Bay is divided up into east and west. The stadium is on the west side. Both of the mentioned hotels are on the east side. The Fox river divides east from west. Another hotel is the Radisson across from the Airport. It is attached to the Oneida Casino.
The James street inn is nice. It is located in (east) De Pere, which is right next to Green Bay. If you stay there you must go to Seroogy's Chocolates. They are located not far from the Inn near Shopko.
If you are looking at doing more than the Packers. There is a nice zoo not far from Green Bay in Suamico called the N.E.W. Zoo. There is mini golf, go carts and other rides in and around BayBeach amusement park.
You also must go to Krolls for lunch they are good food. It is located on the Ridge rd. Side of the stadium. Oh there are a lot of restaurants and shopping on Oneida st. If you go done Oneida past Denny's under the 41 overpass across from Menard's, there is a restaurant called Legend's and they have good food.
Hope this all helps. If you would like some more ideas let me know I have lived here all my life.

I'm from Green Bay too. Green Bay really does not have a "romantic" hotel, but Door County would (about an hour drive) have several. There are soooo many things to do in Green Bay though if the romantic hotel is not extremely important, I'd suggest staying near the stadium. When are you coming? Many love to come to watch training camp and get autographs too. PM me if you need any further details on something!
