Anyone for the Western cruise 4/9/05???

Katy

Tipping can be done in 2 ways. Either you can charge it to your stateroom account or you can pay cash. You are given 4 envelopes to give money to your Dining room staff and stateroom attendant. If you order room service at all it is nice to have some 1's on hand. Usually the tip is between 1 and 3 dollars, depending on your personal preference. If you plan on eating room service all the time bring a lot of 1's, if not then leave them at home.

As for your other questions, you may want to bring a clock with a digital display. The clock in your room is a standard clock with the arms that go around. It does not light up. If you need something to wake you up try the in-room phone wakeup service.

My DW said the hair dryer is not the greatest and that she is bringing her own this time. (I really don't use one so I wouldn't know if its too weak)

Water shoes are recommended for the adult beach at Castaway Cay because the ground is rough. I went without the last time and it was ok but watershoes would help prevent that.

I don't know about outlets or where to eat in Port Canaveral....sorry :sad1:

See everyone real soon!

I'm pretty sure there is a coffe house like thing in the Disney Terminal, but dont take my word on it, I would look it up, My memory isint always the best :earboy2:

As far as outlets go, It's sugjested you bring a power strip or something if you are going to bring alot of electronics, last time I didnt need anything and I dont think i will this time either

OMG ONLY 10 DAYS!!!!!!! :dancer: :hourglass

Katy,

Since this is our first trip, we prepaid our tips with our TA. It was about 380.00 for a family of 5. We did not want to be surprised at the end with a big bill. I think we will have to tip at other places like pool side drinks, etc. I hope we will not regret that decision.

be Joyful

I didn't take a power strip. There is an outlet in the bathroom & one by the mirror at the desk. We had a CAT 11 and only one bathroom, not split. I would shower, and plug my own hairdryer in by the mirror to get ready.

Tipping room service, we tipped $2 per trip. That was about $4 per day at the most. We tipped the porter at the curb $10. If you plan on getting off the ship in Cozumel, remember that everyone there is expecting tips! Bring cash for that! There was even a women in the bathroom at the Beach Break excursion expecting tips. Also, remember tip money for the porter when we get back to port.

In my opinion, I would eat something very little before getting to the port. Think about the buffet line. Hopefully, there won't be any delays and we can board at 12, then you will be eating by 12:30!!!

Random things I packed are....ziploc bags, extra batteries, candy for the movies, over the door shoe holder, suction cups for the bathroom (bathing suits, I know there is a clothes line in the shower, but DH is 6'4" and it is not convient), tums, seasick pills, Immodium D pills :teeth:

Any more questions?? I'll try to answer them.

Hope

About the ziplock bags...do you take a whole box or like 5 baggies? Regular sandwich size, or big freezer ones? And what exactly are they for? lol.

I like the idea for bringing "movie candy" I'll pick up some Twizzlers and Skittles for sure!

Is there bottled water available? Is it free? Can I get 1 bottle and refill it throughout the week? I pretty much only drink water.

Ok, silly question- Do water camera's work for regular pictures too? I would assume so, but I only used one once in Hawaii and spent the whole roll while under water! :earboy2:

P.S. There is a show called Perfect Proposal on tomorrow at 11am (here in NYC) on the Learning Channel and it says, "After a day on Disney's Castaway Cay, Jon asks Liz to marry him." Sounds cute!

Well Hope has the same things packed as me.
I've aslo packed:
A few insulated bottles for the drinks so they don't get warm so fast.
walkie talkies. Don't know if we will need them or not.
hand santitizer.
Disney pins

I think in the end I will have nmore evtra stuff then I do clothes.
That is all that I can think of now. I have a busy day Tuesday I must get to bed and dream about DISNEY!!! :flower:

Just remembered a question that I have. When can you get into your room after boarding?

We're in good shape now. The passports arrived in today's mail. :cool1:

This is our first Disney cruise, but on our previous cruises we packed:
a highlighter to mark the next day's activities, flashlight, nightlight/air freshener combo, sewing kit, binoculars, dryboxes, travel clock, a small notebook for exchanging email addresses, gallon-sized freezer bags, several ones and fives for room service and guide tips and the over-the-door-shoe holder. And most importantly, the Chlorox Wipes and hand sanitizer! But, we have never needed the duct tape or bungee cord that many other seasoned cruisers have recommended!

HTH,
Joni

The bungee cord is a must if you have connecting rooms. Otherwise there is no way to keep the connecting doors open.

It is at the top of our list since we have connecting staterooms this cruise!

Your rooms are aLWAYS ready by 3:00, but sometimes you get lucky and they are done earlier, but they definately have all staterooms done by 3 because of the boat drill

I just got off my First real shift at HyVee- I am now a legal employee and Curtosy Clerk (I like that name more than "Bagger" or "Cart Guy" :P )

Notmuch going on, I'm almost all packed!! ONLY SINGLE DIDGETS NOW!!!! :dancer:

We are not taking a bungee cord for our connecting rooms. I have read that regular door stops work just as well. We are going to try that. If anyone has any experience with door stops not working, please let me know! :)

Time is flying now. So many activites planned in the next few days.

Must go, dd has a softball game at 6:45 tonight!

I've only been on two 4 day cruises....the kinds where you go to Disney before....and those were always fun but I wanted to stay longer! and then they came out with the 7 days and its taken my family 2 years to find time to go and I'm extremely happy we have!....Um so yes....If anyone has any children that would like to talk to me or anything I'm a 13 year old girl....going to be 14 soon....and then maybe I will have someone to hang out with on the cruise because I usually bring a friend and this time I'm cruising solo with Mom and Dad....Yup so reply or something!....

It looks like there isn't many rooms available for a family of 4 left. I went to see want was still open for 4 and there is only about 5 rooms left to pick from in any catagory. I'm just so glad to have my room and leaving soon. :cool1:
The weather is very nice in FL right now. It got to 85 on wen and this morning it was oin the 70's when I got up. Hope we end up with nice weather for the cruise. :sunny:
I'm just worried that I will get a sunburn the first few days and need to be really careful after that. I think will go to the tanning salon again today. I'm going to get a haircut on Sat.

I will see you all soon

Jill

Hope - We are leaving North Dakota on Thursday...a week from today to catch our flight from Minneapolis on Friday morning at 6:30am.

The time has been going by so fast. I don't know when i'll have even time to pack now. I'm so busy until the cruise.
