Welcome!!! The doors open at the port at 10 AM.......we usually start boarding around noon. I plan on being as close to the ship as possible by 9:30 AM

I can't believe you just booked! I have had ours booked since April 2004!!
My countdown clock used to say 375 days!!

I want a :mickeybar

Thank you. Wow, the doors open early! We just got back from a HAL cruise and weren't expecting to go on another cruise but my mom never passes up a good deal. We had planned to go on a 4 day Wonder but DM doesn't want to go back to Nassau. The last cruise only had forty kids, ages 5-17, so hopefully there will more teenage boys on this one.

I want a :cake:

P. S. My sister is really looking for some friends now

Turk,

Same here. I'm turning 13 soon and I can't wait to meet some new people. :cheer2: Is your sister interested in the Oceaneers Lab???

:bounce: Daniela :bounce:

Is it rude to ask what kind of deal your mom got as a Florida resident? My mom lives in Florida. If we want to do another cruise in 2006, would she be able to get the whole family a better rate?

The only thing that concerns me is if she books it and my stepfather is not able to go due to his health, and she backs out (since she would have to take care of him), what happens? Would they be allowed a refund (depending on how close to sailing) and would we be allowed to go without the Florida resident who made the reservation?

My sis has got an e-mail if you want to talk too her =) Last cruise we went on she went to the oceaneers lab and she didnt like it much because they were almost all younger than her, so she is going to try to get bumped into the teens club w/ me & my brother, and I assume you'll be there since your turning 13 =)

Only 53 more days!!!!!!!!!!!! :hourglass

Is anyone going to Paradise Beach in Cozumel? I checked their website and it looks good (and it's less expensive than DCL), but I'm nervous booking an excursion outside of DCL.

My parents went to Paradise Beach while in Cozumel in January. They had a great time. It was about $12 cab ride there and back from the port. They did it on their own and had a great time. They highly recommend it. They are trying to talk my DH & I into going in April. I don't know if we are getting off the ship in Cozumel or not. My dd's want to go to the beach, BUT they want to be back on the ship by 2:30. There is an activity in the lab that they missed last time and don't want to miss this time!! Something about putting your face on a mouse pad. :confused3

But, yes, I heard it was a really nice place.

Hope

Cozumel....for us will be the dune buggy excursion. I didn't book through DCL. Anyone else doing the dune buggy?

I know I told someone my son wanted to email but I think he's a little intimidated since he's never been allowed to have an email address of his own. If finally got him one. He needs to practice his emerging typing skills anway. Would one of you with a child in the range of 9-12, ask him/her to email William at bionuckle@yahoo.com. I think he'd get a BIG kick out of it.

Mom said that after final payment, if there is availability, cruise lines will discount staterooms for locals since they don't have to worry about air fare. :cool1: For instance, the ships that leave out of Puerto Rico may advertise there to fill up staterooms if a large number of bookings are canceled. Usually, it is better to book early to get the date, itinerary, stateroom or category you want. We took what they had to offer because of the price. FL resident for 4/9 sailing only started at $649 pp cat. 11. Cat. 10 was $749, Cat. 9 - $799, Cat. 8 - $899, etc. plus taxes and insurance.

DM priced the same category for $1000 more. As far as the refund due to health reasons, you have to check your particular insurance policy for pre-exisiting conditions, etc. DM got our insurance through the site insuremytrip.com and saved > $160 which covers loss/delayed baggage, trip cancellation/interruption, medical/dental/evac, etc. Check with Disney or a TA who knows Disney for the FL resident particulars.

Turk,

Is Disney strict about their age groups, ie., 10-12 yos stay together? Other lines would allow a 13 yo to go to the younger group but not vice versa. Sure, I'd like to talk to your sis. :chat:

Thanks for the info about the reduced rate for Florida residents. It's something to remember if we do another cruise in the future.

Travel insurance is all over the board in price! I found much better and much cheaper insurance, with an A rating, than what DCL and AAA was offering.

Excited? Anyone else staying up way too late reading cruise reports and looking at other people's pictures from their DC's? :Pinkbounc

I'm ready to go  :cool1:

I can't wait. I am reading the boards way too much too!!!!

Oh well, it is not good to wish our lives away. What will we do when our cruise is over?? It won't be as much fun checking the boards if we don't rebook while on board!

Have a good day.......

Speaking of rebooking.... Does Disney offer lower deposits, shipboard credit, etc., if you book onboard? :listen: We did this on Princess.

When I was on they didnt seem to be too strict about it, we had a couple 12 year olds in the teen club, but i think they turned 1 away too, It all depends on the openings at all of the clubs, if the kids club is too full they let a few more into teens and vice-versa--Or thats what i saw. But the couple that we had bumped up last cruise was also because they had another family member in that age group and they were really close, so i guess it all depends on the situation, and I'll have 2 get my sisters e-mail for you =)

omg! look...only 51 more days!!!! :hourglass

So what other Disney web sites are people searching through to help the planning process??

The kids are on vacation next week so I am going to start going through their clothes and start sorting our "Cruisewear". As someone once said, we do all this planning but what do we do after the cruise is over.........maybe plan another one!!!

I don't know what we are goingt o do in Cozmel yet.

I have been working out with a trainer at the gym. I hope to see some diffrence in my body before we leave on the cruise. Trying to loose some of this gut. I would like to look a little better in a bathingsuit. I must get going have to go to gym and do 1hr on the tredmill.

Jill, I emailed you through the PM feature. :)

After reading the DCL forum, I'm having second thoughts about where to place my 7 (almost 8) year old son. I was pretty certain I'd register him for the Club instead of the Lab. I figured he'd be better off being the big fish in the little sea rather than the other way around. Now that someone has explained that it isn't uncommon for 7 and even sometimes 6 year olds to be in the Lab and that the activities are more engaging for the school age children, I think he would like the Lab. I also read that the Club tends to consist of more structured activities while the Lab allows for more independent play. I'll be honest with you all. We homeschool, and my boys, like most homeschooled kids are not as worldly and aggressive as most boys their age.

I know the policy of allowing 7 year olds who are a month from 8 into the Lab and that the staff is flexible about allowing 7 year olds in. So, I'm not concerned that the Lab isn't going to be an option for him. That said, what are your opinions on the suitability of the Lab for a 7 year old?

I'll probably post this on the DCL regular forum, also.

My dd was 7 years and 3 months when we cruised the first time. The club was geared for little children. She would have been bored in the club. We moved her to the lab and she loved it. We had a hard time getting her out at night. The lab is really cool.

We have been reading the navigators on castawayclub(dot)com and she has already picked out the activities she wants to do (hoping they don't change!)

I'm thinking of getting a suitcase down to start putting things into. My box is getting a little too small.
