I have flown out of Buffalo before and like the airport, it is easy to get around.

What is the Albany airport like??? Is it big?? Easy to get around???

THanks

Albany Airport is a modern, medium sized airport and very easy to navigate. The crowds there don't get huge, so usually getting through check-in and past security goes quickly.

Lots of parking available ($4 per day I think) and a pretty good selection of hotels and places to eat really close by.

It's also easy to get to. Just a few minutes from the Thruway or I-87. If you get a good price on a flight, grab it.

::MickeyMo I just used Albany airport for my may 21-28 vacation with no problems. It was my second time flying out of there. Check in (Southwest) and security were really easy to do. I have also used Rochester once and Syracuse numerous times in the past, also with no problems. HTH :flower: Rebecca

I flew out of the Albany Airport this past Feb. and again in April.. Both times alone - Feb. being my very first flight alone.. (Southwest)

I like the airport very much.. Not too big and helpful people.. Very easy to navigate.. Getting through check-in and security is a breeze..

Two things I noticed that were different than MCO.. Upon arrival in Orlando, I found that both times my luggage had been hand-searched in Albany.. On the return trips they were not searched.. And at security in Albany, I was never asked to remove my shoes.. In MCO everyone was required to remove their shoes..

You'll like it - it's not intimidating at all.. :flower:

I suggest you park at the Albany park and fly, and get coupons on line. Good savings, and your car will be all set to go (either air or snow removed) when you get shuttled back (10 minute ride). They also have a long term lot out in the elements, with a shuttle. I believe if you are handicapped, the parking is $25 for any length, in the airport garage. On busier times, the airport garage can be hard to find a spot. It's a small airport as airports go, and very easy to get around. All of the airlines are in one small area...and you just go up the elevator (or escalator) to go through security, and you can just about see your gate from there. Very little walking. We fly out of there a half dozen times a year. Not much in the way of food..a couple very small restaurant/cafe's and a Mickey D's. A few nice coffee places. You'll never get lost there, that's for sure LOL.

I'm flying out of Albany on Firday...flying with Southwest. I usually fly out of SYR because it is less then 3 miles from my house but when SW had their $49 one way tickets I grab them. Total round trip is $115 X 2 of us, plus $30 gas and $20 to park still less then $300 total. Its worth the drive this time.

We've always had good experience flying out of Albany when we were in that area. Now we are in Rochester so we fly out of here on AirTran or JetBlue or go to Buffalo if we get a better deal or want to use Southwest. I've been checking them all for our Jan trip, hoping for something better than $89.00 one way! :)
