We're not going until 5/02, but wondering if anyone has flown Spirit Air out of AC vs. flying USAir, Midway or any of the other carriers out of Philly. The flights that I've been able to find looking now show only about a $10 difference less out of AC. Would prefer to fly out of Philly, but will go to AC if I can get better rates. How was Spirit? What's the best time to start looking for flights? When I used to live in Clearwater, I never paid more than $200 to "come home". Looks like the prices are still hovering around there. What does everybody think? As always - thanks for the help - I love this board!!!

:D :D :D :bounce: :pinkbounc ;) ;) ;)

We have flown Spirit several times out of AC, we had one BIG PROBLEM with them on our last trip!! We were stranded for 2 days because they couldn't get there equipment to fly out of AC. Now I have to be honest and say that it did snow in the AC area and this was the problem, but the following day all the other carries where flying in and out of PHILLEY!! They have a limited supply of aircraft and if one is sidelined it takes for ever and a day to get that route on track again. We also found that you can get no info from the personnel at Spirit in MCO!! This is when we discovered that no other airline will except there tickets!! I personnally would not fly Spirit! it's not worth the few dollars you will save, just my opinion!!!

I flew Spirit Pittsburgh to AC 3 or 4 years ago (they only flew the route for about a year before pulling out of Pittsburgh). Our return flight plane needed a part and they did not have it in AC, so we had to wait until the part was flown in from Florida! Others who were waiting flew the route often (casino players) and said that it happened all the time, it rarely was on time. I'm sure the major carriers in PHL have all the necessary parts handy or have a spare plane available. Unless you will save a huge amount, I would stick with a major carrier.

Thanks for the info!!! That would be just my luck being stuck in AC for a week instead of Disney - will stick to majors at Philly & keep my fingers crossed for good fares -

:D :D :D :p

I fly Spirit from AC to Orlando at least 4 times a year and have only had a delay once for 3 hours and then everyone on the plane was given a $50.00 credit for the inconvenience. I have just flown with Spirit from AC to Orlando twice within the past 17 days(just got back from the second trip on Tuesday) and both trips were great. I am always amazed when I read negatives about Spirit because this has certainly not been my experience and believe me I fly with them A LOT! I only live 15 minutes from the AC airport so I would not even consider going to Philly, we have done that before and I like flying out of AC 1000 times more than going all the way to Philly. Every flight that I ever take on a Spirit plane from AC to Orlando is always fully booked so there must be a lot of other people that like Spirit also, I wish fewer people did like Spirit then maybe their fares would come down some, because you are right their fares are not much cheaper than flying out of Philly, it is the convenience that I love. If you do not live close to AC then you should fly out of Philly.
