Hi

Anyone flown with Virgin?

We are flying there in June. We can not wait. We were wondering what the planes seating is and what is the general service like. Are the seats big enough, we are flying economy, as we thought the upgrade was a little expensive.

Any feedback would be great.

Cheers

Michelle,

Where are you flying from?

We have just returned after flying with Virgin for the first time and after hearing before we went that they didnt seem as good as they used to be I didnt Know what to expect but I thought they were excellent!

We flew out from Manchester but back into Gatwick as Manchester return service had ceased for winter which isnt going to happen in future thank god.

I found seating to be reasonable but may be tight for anyone over 6ft entertainment was good especially outward as the plane had Nintendos the Gatwick flights dont, food was as good as you can expect really on a plane. You get the goody bags on the way out which have eye mask, pen, toothbrush, sexy socks :D ,lip balm in them and the bags come in useful if your going to waterparks as their waterproof.

If theres anything more specific you need too know ask away

Regards

Sean.

Is this for definite?? I am trying to book for next December and Virgin aren't showing any flights from Manchester, but the Gatwick flights are available.

Hi Michelle

We have flown to Orlando with Virgin 4 times and I have always been really pleased with the service and level of comfort.

Never been fortunate to get upgraded but we have been lucky at times to get the Exit Seats which give you a bit extra room. We just got to the airport extra early to be in with a chance of getting them as you cannot book these seats and have to be 100% fit to occupy them. I read recently that Virgin are now charging extra for these seats which I think is a shame.

Hope this helps

:)

Hi,

We have just booked our 9th trip with Virgin for next year.

They are excellent, we have an Autistic child and always reserve a bulkhead seat through the Special Needs deparment.
They really look after us, I would recommend them to anyone.

Economy travel on a long flight is not ideal but we just get on with it.

Hi

Thanks eveyone for your feedback. It was great. We are flying from Gatwick.

Are the seats 2 4 2 or 3 4 3. We wil be travelling with our 3 year old daughter so a 3 4 3 would be great. We flew with JMC on a 3 4 3 DC10 and it was horrid. The worst flight I have ever experienced. So I will definately not fly with them again. It was long haul.

Thanks for all your help. I am so excited to go. I cant wait.

Michelle

Bev,

We were told by one of the flight attendants that as of winter 2003 Manchester will not cease flights to Orlando and the Carribean. She was also glad this was going to happen as she had to transfer to Gatwick for the Winter season.

Hope its true but she should know I suppose.

Sean.

seats are 3-4-3. virgin are great except in one department, the seats in economy are no better than a charter airline - sardinesville! Films are usually good though.

Agree with Eastender that the seat pitch was horrible. Have flown with Virgin 3 times now and the last time was the worst flight I ever had, been 6ft 2 the seats are usually tight but I spent the whole flight with the pillow between the seat in front and my knees. This was due to the metal strip in the magazine holder (even empty) been exactly below my knee cap. Of course you do get different seat pitches on different rows but I would say Virgin are at least an inch less than other scheduled airlines.
Plus side is direct flights and the entertainment system of course.

We have flown to Orlando 5 times now and 4 times with Virgin and we would not fly with anyone else, they are always very helpful especially with meal request although I was surprised to find that they don't do a childs nut free meal so our 6 year old had to have an adult meal instead. We now do the twilight checkin to increase the chance of getting an extra legroom seat for DH who is 6'4" and are always lucky going out but sometimes not so lucky coming home. Hope to try premium economy on our next jaunt.
