Anyone flown with Virgin recently - what plane?

Has anyone flown with Virgin from Gatwick recently? When did you find out waht type of plane you would be on. We go 27th July but still not able to see seat plan. We are going PE so was really hoping to be able to book seats upstairs as we love those. Don't mind PE on new planes aswell. Just hoping we don't end up with PE downstairs on old, non refurbished plane.

I flew from Manchester, but the Gatwick flight landed shortly afterwards and was a 747. 430 odd people so I don't know if it was a refurb

Flew out from Gatwick PE a couple of weeks ago on the 1pm flight - the seat map opened up mid morning and I could change our seats - I then checked in online shortly after 1pm.

Coming home I checked in online around 8pm for the VS16 but no options to change seats.

There is still only one plane done so chances are slim of getting her.

Should have said we had a Nova 747 both ways but it really doesn't bother us as we all have iPads!

On 27th July from Gatwick it has both flights the VS15 and VS27 as a 747-400
But doesn't say which ones..you never know you may have a new one Obviously they are subject to change.
