Anyone flown united from heathrow?

Ok another member of our party booked our flights and apparently we fly heathrow to washington, washington to Orlando with united airlines. Has anyone else done this?

I have a few questions...

Firstly do kids with seats get luggage allowance? (I am assuming my under 2 doesn't as he's on lap) if so do they get adult luggage allowance?

Did you find the connection between flights easy enough to do (I have 4 kids- 3 of them under 5- to get through with me)

Pushchairs- could you take it right to the plane with you or did it need to go in checked luggage?

Anything else you wish people would have told you before your flight?

Yes they do, the full amount.

Connections were okay, didn't wait for too long.

Pushchairs- could you take it right to the plane with you or did it need to go in checked luggage?

Don't know about this one but I think it goes in the hold.

Yes, don't do it!!

We did this in 2004 and my kids were 6 and 4 at the time, however, we were flying out from Glasgow so had that added on to the journey time. We left Glasgow at 8am and arrived in WDW at 2am (our time).

There are no seat back tv's on the flight and the kids couldn't see the big screen tv thing so for 9 hours it was a struggle. On the way back we stopped off in DC for 3 nights and it was lovely to break the journey up but I won't do it again, not unless my kids were much older and could entertain themselves but I would stop in DC again on both ways otherwise for us it's just too long a journey, 6 hours later and we could have been in Australia!!!

we flew from heathrow to hawaii,with united,then hawaii to orlando.
they are the best airline,we have ever flown with.
we had seat back t.v's,which certainly kept our grandaughter occupied.kiera certainly had full baggage allowance.
we are flying with them in oct,to san francisco,then to orlando.we actually change in washington,on the way home,which i don't mind at all,as i would choose united,over any other airline,we couldn't fault any part of the flight & all in all, we had 8 legs with them & each one, was as good as the last.
the connections were all straight forward & were not at all stressful,although we only had one child with us.
i would say the pushchair,will be put in the hold,but not 100% sure.

We have only flown United once Heathrow to Orlando via Chicago. Our DD was only 3 y.o. at the time and I brought our own umbrella stroller with us. I was able to take it right to the door of the plane with us at Heathrow and had to wait just a few minutes at the doors when we arrived in Chicago to have it brought up from the hold for us.

Thanks everyone for the replies, I am a bit nervous about flying as I've not flown since my own childhood and the thought of 4 kids on a plane for that long was starting to worry me a bit! i think i may well pack plenty to keep my more easily distracted son busy!
