Anyone flown to Tampa?

We are going to Tampa instead of MCO this time and i was wondering what the airport is like in comparison? Queues for passport? Baggage reclaim? Car hire? Bigger/smaller? Double bag drop?

i've flown to tampa, but i came in on a domestic plane (indirect flight), so i don't know what the immigration/customs part looks like..

the airport itself totally reminded me of orlando airport....it looked very similar to me...

there are a bunch of people who have flown into tampa, i'm sure they'll be able to answer you...

We are same as Beth only flown indirect into Tampa via another airport, Did it this Feb and August 2009. No problems at all, looking for cheap flights for this Oct, wouldn't hesitate using Tampa again.

Flew into Tampa from Toronto in Aug 2010, indirect from Heathrow, no queue at Budget (car hire) took us 1 hour to get to Old Key West.
Would def fly to Tampa again

Only flown in to Tampa once with BA. Nice Flight, Immigration fairly quick, had Alamo Car which was nice {Virgin have now gone to Alamo}.

We had a few Days at St Petes at the start which was why we chose Tampa.

We flew into Tampa last year and again this year with BA as it works out chaeaper!! Quieter airport ! Easy to pick up car and an easy road to Orlando

About the Same! Unless we've been lucky MCO seems to have got a bit quicker lately

Flew into Tampa last year and will again in October.

I cant help with the time at immigration because we didnt have a straight forward experience.
DS got really sick as we got to the lines so we had to find him a rest room.
I approached a big scary lookin immigration officer and he took charge.
He picked DS (10) up and ran with him to the rest room.He then went back to find DH and escort him to us.When he got DS sorted we came out to find he had stacked our luggage at the front of a line and let us go straight to the desk.


Long story short I love Tampa coz the immigration guys are human not robots, who think they are doing you a favour lettin you into their country to spend your money !!

Yes,that is my opinion of Orlando immagration....

We thought Tampa was great! We flew via Philly so went through immigration there, but Tampa was a nice smallish airport with the car rental right across the street from the exit. We were on the road in no time and it was *such* an easy drive to/from WDW. I'm always nervous about getting out of airports (grew up with Boston's Logan airport as my local airport and it's a nightmare!) but you couldn't possibly get lost coming out of Tampa.

Plus the airfare was about £300 cheaper for the 4 of us than via Orlando so I think we'll be sticking with Tampa from now on.
