I'm searching the web for air fare from OAK to MCO for our Nov cruise. I have no idea what a good deal vs. a not so good deal is. The cheapest I found a week ago from Cheaptickets.com was $303/person. Unfortunately, since I didn't book (didn't know if it was cheap enough), that price went up since then. I'm still waiting for Southwest to open their Nov reservations.

So, if anyone flew from OAK to MCO, how much was your air fare/person and with what airline. Please give me ideas on what an average or good deal is. Thanks so much!

I checked daily until SW opened up their tickets for the month we were traveling (August). It was actually less than 6 months by the time they opened up. I was able to get $99 each way for all of us. I don't think it gets any cheaper than that. The tickets go FAST. We are also going in May, and had to pick some not so good times to get the best flights. Be sure to check how many transfers there are on the flight you choose. It can range from none to I think three.

I fly from Tampa, Fl to San Jose, CA every year (I'm from there) and I always get airfare for around $225-230 total. I am leaving in three weeks and got airfare on Southwest for $188 round trip. It came to $233 total per person with tax. I know that sometimes Oakland can be a cheaper city to fly in and out of so you might find something even cheaper. I belong to www.bestfares.com and it has paid off many times!! This last time I booked directly with Southwest. Also try www.expedia.com or www.tavelocity.com. Good luck!!:cheer2:

My sister does that flight to meet us in Orlando.

Hold out for the SW $99 special! If you can't get it fast enough, or it doesn't go that low this year, there is another option. One year my sis flew to Vegas ($34 each way), and jumped on our $99 flights. It bumped her up to almost $300, but it was the best alternative then. I can usually get my airfare at $178 rt not including tax, so if you don't mind the stopover, consider it.

BTW---if your Nov dates include Thanksgiving, keep your finger on the speed dial!! LOL!

Lilo -- Try Sacramento to Orlando. I don't know where you live, but believe me, the difference in air fare is substantial. we got SMF to MCO for $240. My brother got it for $210. Both on United Airlines. We go out on 5/22 and return on 6/12. Their parking there is [I think] 7 ot 8 dollars a day and we have often left our car for three weeks with no problem.

20 more days!!! :Pinkbounc

We used Delta from Sacramento last Oct...$210 roundtrip, with one stop in Salt Lake. We generally have someone drop us off and then rent a car for our return...last Oct it was $28 for the day, and last month from Oakland to Sacramento it was $48...much cheaper than paying for parking at either airport...I think Oakland's parking was $14/day.

We are booked to fly from Oakland to Orlando in August. We're paying 349.00 each, round trip. Flying Delta, one stop. Thought it was an okay rate but now not so sure:(

I am always checking on airfare from Oakland to MCO and I always find it around $225-$250. We are flying on United on 5/22 and it was $227.50 per person round trip. When I go on Travelocity, I never select a specific date and let them come up with what will be the cheapest price. I have noticed it to be a considerable amount lower than if I picked a certain date. If you are flexible (maybe get to Orlando a day earlier than planned or stay a day later) it really helps with the price.

Make sure you subscribe to southwest's webfares. They'll email you the deal's on Tues. If you see what you want, don't hesitate to book. They usually limit the number of "discounted" seats on each flight.

We fly often from the Bay Area to Orlando. When you see airfare in the $200-250 range (including all taxes) then go ahead and purchase. We've never paid for than $250. If the fares now for November are more than $250 it simply means you're booking too early. Best prices, I've found, are often 30-60 days in advance.

Lilo5;

Not knowing where you are at, try checking on all three airports, SJO, OAK, SFO. We have flown from all three airports and prices can vary. We have paid between $150 to $250 per person to MCO. (round trip). Check out Orbitz and Travelocity, it gives the ability to select airports within so many miles of the airport you are using.

Also consider the time you will be travelling. The early flights from the bay area are among the cheapest, at least from what I can see. The great thing about the first flights out is that there is almost no delays and on time departure. We have bought tickets as far as 6 months in advance, particularly if we are travelling during the busy time (christmas)

Good luck.

Thanks so much for your tips and suggestions! I've listed all the websites mentioned. I'm from Fremont, so I will try all 3 airports and see which one gives me a better fare.
