Anyone finished their holiday with a cruise?

Just wondered what you do with your last day, getting the airport etc.?

We used Magical Express last time, but were leaving from a WDW resort (was great as we had a nice chunk of time in the parks on the last day).

Can we still use ME? Should we book a flight returning earlier? Any other advice?

We've not booked anything yet, just dreamily planning for next summer :)

Thanks,

Jeanette

We always tack an extra day or two 'landside' after the cruise to give us leaway in case of issues with disembarkation and we always get a hire car so I can't help too much in regards to ME.

I think you can get the DCL shuttle coach to MCO when you get off of the ship if that's any help.

Aye , if you disembark on the day you fly home DCL will get you to the airport. Problem for UK flights is they don't usualy depart Orlando till late afternoon to early evening giving you a day to kill at Orlando airport.

Like Jen we like to give ourselfs a day or 2 back in Disney after the cruise and they will get you back to Disney property easily. We've been back in a park by 930 am after coming of the Wonder using Disney coaches for all the transport as we don't drive.

When we took our cruise we had transfers from the port to the airport, we ended up at the airport by 11am for our early evening flight having to spend the entire day at the airport. My best advice is to do the cruise at the start or in the middle of your holiday, especially if you don’t have a car. We are taking our 3 night Disney Dream Cruise early in our holiday this year then coming back to WDW for 11 nights.

I agree. We ummed and arrhed over where to do our 4 night but did it in the middle and was glad we did. 5 nights at okw then 4 night cruise then 6 nights AKLV. It was great to know we had more time at the parks especially after hearing the sad voices of people saying they were going home. If you hv a car you cld perhaps go to a water park or DTD before leaving for the airport but will be a long day at the airport after the cruise if you get DCL to the airport.

On our first cruise we left the ship, headed to DTD for Virgin check-in and then went to Magic Kingdom. After the parade we left for the airport and then flew home. We were still on a high, which made the return home a lot easier. Last year we finished the cruise with a few days off site and no Disney tix - never again!!!! Not being able to go into a park we came down to earth from the cruise with a bump, and we could not wait to get home. Next year, we are flying home again, same day we leave the ship.

We did the same cruise as Nigel last year, we also had a few days after the cruise and loved them. For us the worst thing possible after a cruise is coming straight home, we can enjoy the cruise to the full rather than thinking the holiday is over when we leave the ship.
Just shows everyone is different, you need to do what you think is best for your family, 2 or 3 days after a cruise back in Orlando is perfect for us.

We were trying to work out what to do for our holiday this year. We have opted to go near the beginning and go back to WDW afterwards for a week.

Everyone is different but also we were working on dates and when we needed to be back in the UK

We returned home the same day we left the ship too. We hired a car one way from Port to MCO, dropped our bags off at DTD check-in and then spent the rest of the day shopping at DTD before heading to the airport later on :)

Thanks for all your views.:thumbsup2 I think I fall into the 'would feel like my holiday was over and wouldn't enjoy the cruise' camp so I think we'll shift it so we can have a little more time back in the magic before returning home.

My family will no doubt appreciate the respite mid-holiday as my 'you can sleep the rest of the year' attitude can wear a little thin after 10 days of park pounding...apparently!:rotfl2:
