Anyone feel this way?

People making major decisions based on the subjective opinions of other folks they have never met. Truely amazing.

I totally agree, I don't get that kind of decision process. The DIS boards are very helpful for the nuts and bolts of the DVC program and Disney topics/WDW vacationing chat in general. Having said that, I would never let anything posted here drastically alter any of my vacation plans. On the flip side of "negative posts", I think similiarly about some of the overly enthusiastic posts. If you take these posts too much to heart, it may lead to false hopes and dissapointment when you don't have the best ever CM experience, have the most delicious meal, get the perfect room, the nicest parade view, etc.

For the OP, I wouldn't change my plans. Enjoy your trip!!:p

Since this post started about 24 hours ago there has been a report that there is a lot of fixing up going on at BCV. Maybe they have been reading these reports on this site. Like I have said before, I would stay at SSR but I would still be concerned about BCV. I am making final plans for my final 2 weeks down at WDW and will be staying at the Yacht Club or BWV rather than BC or BCV; there is not just housekeeping problems over there but it appears to be an attitude problem with the staff regarding DVC guests. The reports do have an effect on my decisions that is why they are so important. I heard enough about BCV to keep me away. I won't go near BC either because they have the same front desk.

The management for the Yacht Club is the same for the Beach Club and Villas. In fact some CM's do double duty and work both front desks. JFI

Maybe people are jelous or still trying to convince themsleves they really purchased the resort they wanted, instead of getting an opportunity for the new resort advantages. It could be resort envy.

1. Be selective on which posts you read. If you don't like the negativity - or can't get it out of your mind after you read it - then skip the ones with titles that start out that way. That's what I used to do and now I find I can read the negative ones and laugh instead of being concerned.

2. I have found that a lot of the complaining is about the small stuff. And you know the saying "don't sweat the small stuff"......but looking from another point of view, if the small stuff goes unreported, it could grow to big stuff. I rarely see anything big. I just hope people are reporting the small stuff and not just posting it here.

3. Some people expect perfection, and they will surely always be disappointed and have something negative to say. Perfection is impossible for humans.

4. Seek out positive people.

5. Love DVC for what it is.

I guess if you go looking for something to be wrong, you will find it.

THANK YOU! EXACTLY!

I guess I am very sheltered in my life, in that whe I go on vacation, I am there to enjoy myself. I see the world through a rainbow when I am on vacation, especially in WDW.

Some of the complaint posts have me shaking my head. WHO notices half the stuff they list? Hey, my attitude is, if it is cleaner than my own house, and I didn't have to clean it, I am one happy woman.

If you notice most of the posts complaining, it seems the people walk in there snapping on the white gloves as soon as they step through the threshold.

When we stayed in the GV back in April, my BIL was cracking me up, As gorgeous as the unit was, he said he could not stay there because the light in the foyer was out. HE doesn't even read the DIS board, he has just been around enough in life to know that there are people in the world who would have that attitude. And it seems we have plenty of those people right here on the DIS boards.

Another thing wrong with the GV unit, is the glass in the picture over the toilet was cracked. I did not want to get blamed, so I just called to report it so they were aware it was broke. I did not expect someone to come right out, we left for the parks, and when we came back, the picture frame had a new piece of glass.

As much as people complain, some of them do not report the problems. They would rather complain. But, I find that Disney is far superior is making sure something broke gets fixed ASAP.

So, even if you do find yourself checking into a room that has a cracker crumb on the floor in the back corner behind the end table, call housekeeping, report it, and soon the cracker crumb will be gone!

Thank you Sammie! The Yacht Club is out also. I would pick up on any negative attitude so fast, but I doubt they treat the guests at the Yacht Club the same way they treat them at BCV. It could be they feel the way they do or at least some of them about all WDW guests. I don't need that. Thanks again!!

ITA!

When I bought at BWV in late 1999, there were bad reports all over this board. My first trip there wasn't until almost a year later, so I chose to wait and see for myself. I was never sorry about buying there or staying there.

If you have a complaint, voice it when you are there. That's the only way things will improve or be corrected while you are there. I know people who have had a bad stay but never complained to management at the resort. They just constantly complained about it on this or other boards.

I think that #2, 3, 4 and 5 sum it up very well. Thankyou, kathleena! :)

In #2- a key is the last sentence. WDW resorts in general and DVC resorts in particular are very responsive to reports of any maintenance and housekeeping issues. We, as guests, need to provide them the opportunity to correct the problem during the stay. It does little good to report a problem days (or weeks) later when there is little chance to provide the Disney "magic" along with the correction. I know there are times, when some have reported the problem in a timely fashion and have still been disappointed in the result and that is another issue altogether. (I'd still recommend using the chain of command at the time until some satisfaction is acheived- even if you must devote some vacation time to do so.)

#3 is another important concept (and goes beyond Disney, IMO).

#4 should be applied to our everyday lives.

#5 follow naturally with #1-4.

Great summary! :wave2:
