This one was different - there was no jolt, but back and forth swaying for about a minute in L.A.. Supposedly, this was 6.9 - a big one -and centered in Baja Calfornia; 75 miles south of the border - 20 miles underground; 16 miles S-SW of Guadalupe Victoria.

more than you'll ever want to know, but here is the latest from USGS

You bet we felt it. Just sitting down for Easter dinner. Lasted a long time. And we're fairly far from the epicenter.

A lot of people felt it in Orange County and even way north of where I am in L.A. It was long and strong! It was not a jerky thing, but it was a rolling, swaying thing, and my chandelier was moving around for a while. 6.9 is not good at all.:scared1: I hate quakes!!!!!!!

I didn't feel a thing up in Ventura County, but my kids in Camarillo did.

Yes! We are at the GCH right now...It just woke me up from a nap...the bed was swaying like when one of my dogs dreams that he is running:goodvibes

We felt it, here are pics of the magnitude & location.

I'm in Los Angeles. I believe the earthquake was in Mexicali, Mexico. You can see the big red square on the map below

Really felt it over here. Lasted a long time and it was really strong.

Friend of mine in San Diego just posted about it on Facebook. She said they were definitely rolling!

Poor Disney...just can't get away from the Press. I turned on CNN and the main news from the earthquake was the people stuck in a Disney hotel elevator.

Friend of mine in San Diego just posted about it on Facebook. She said they were definitely rolling!

If I felt it as strong as I did where I am in L.A. (close to Beverly Hills), I cannot imagine what it must have bene like in San Diego! Yikes!!:scared1:

They said on the news that some people were stuck in elevators at the DLH! Any word on that?

Supposedly, there have been 3.0 quakes all week in Mexicali, so those 3.0's were all leading up to this one today! :scared1:

I'm all the way up in Victorville (75 miles or so north of DLR) and we felt it, it lasted long enough to make my daughter dizzy, kind of sea sick. I figure it must have been much stronger down there closer to the epicenter.

Yup, it was VERY strong in San Diego! And we're getting aftershocks too. Nothing fell in my house and nothing was broken, but it woke my son up from his nap and he watched his lamp almost fall down. And he was so scared! :(

We felt it here... about 15 mins from DLR. It was a weird rolling kind, not jolty at all.

I'm glad we decided not to go to DL this afternoon...the local news is saying all the rides are shut down at the moment. Talk about chaos. Ugh. :sad2:

Felt the rocking, lasted a long time. CBS newscaster has family at DL right now, and she said they told her the rides were closed down right now. Heard LegoLand also shut down the rides. They have to inspect them all before they can start running them again. I was just there yesterday.

On abc, they said they shut down all the rides at Disneyland, anyone else here that?

Yup, hopefully not for long though.
I definately felt it, but I didn't even know it was an earthquake @ 1st & I thought I was just unbalanced. I'm glad it wasn't a jerky earthquake, but this one made me a little lightheaded & I'm still feeling a little off right now. And the news said they felt it as far as Santa Barbara.

OMG! It was a 7.2 today! Not even a 6.9! Do you realize that the last 7.0+ quake that we had (in Landers, California, back in 1992) triggered another big quake a few hours later in Big Bear? Yikes! Let's hope that doesn't happen. My nerves cannot take it!

We were just finishing up our meals at Outback (Harber&Chapman) When my friend thought I was shaking the table or something and I thought someone was having a wonderful time on the other side of the seat behind me. Then I noticed others looking a little confused and then saw the lights hanging on the cables over tables swinging around. And when it ended I asked the guy next to me "was that an earthquake?" and he said yes. Being from Minnesota we don't feel these at all there so it was a new experience for us.

I also heard the something that Disneyland shut down all rides for precautionary reasons. And to think we thought about going over there for an afternoon half day today.
