As far as I know, there is nobody well known. I do remember a time when I was 11, I heard my paternal grandmother talking about her maidenname and misunderstanding the pronunciation, thought I was related to Wyatt Earp. My mother rolled on the floor.

Anyone in your family have a spotlight...no matter how small.....even a 15 seconds of fame sort of person?

My mother still gets "spotted" for her stint on This Old House. She's Jeani Golden from the New Orleans House project.

My uncle (mom's brother) is a published author and is working on a screenplay. But he's in a very very specific non-fiction genre in WWII. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=ba6cN8OASV&isbn=0764307576&itm=1

Wow--he's published more than I thought! I believe he still teaches school though. Family curse--he could win a pulitzer or an oscar and still be a pauper (that's what he says at least, LOL).

Someone traced our lineage back to Marie Antoinette--but I haven't seen it, so I don't know if it is true or not that she is an ancestor.

That's a coincidence! I've been told the same thing about Marie Antoinette. I'll have to ask my mother about it. It's been a long while since she's mentioned it.

Maybe she is related to everybody, LOL!
:scratchin

My grandmother was British--perhaps an odd sense of humour?

I get confused on the exact lineage but my relatives are the Adelsons. They have the production company Lorimar. They produced the Waltons (that was their first show) they also did Full house. Merv (Adelson) married, but then divorced Barbara Walters. I remember my Grandmother visiting us one time and had to cut her visit short because Barbara's daughter was getting married and she had to attend the wedding. Boy did I want to go to that!
On my dads side there was a relative (not sure how connected) that was one of the right hand man for one of the Gambino boys. He's in federal prison now! LOL

I don't know if you could call it famous, maybe infamous, but my great-great-great grandfather was James Kirker.

I'm related to him through my mother's father's side of the family.

Ethan Hawke is a distant cousin of mine (his Grandmother was my Mother's cousin).

Well according to my DH's family we are related to Walt Disney. Apparently one of DH's great-aunts or great-great-aunts' (can't remember which) maiden name was Disney and she was a cousin of Walt's.

I am still waiting for our family discount! ;)

My grandfather's NAME was James Earl Jones. But not the real one. My dad always says that the "force" is strong in our family! :D

My mom's family has been traced back to Ben Franklin. Hmmmmmm...any coincidence that of everyone in history, he's been the one to interest me most? :)

Well, I've got two: The first is my great, great, great, great grandfather
(I think I have the right number of "great"), Lapu Lapu. He was a filipino warrior that is known for killing Magellan. The other is on Extreme House Makeover.

My dad's cousin, Angus L. McDonald, was the premere of Nova Scotia back in the 1940's. There is even a bridge named after him that connects Halifax and Dartmouth.

Karen

Well, I'm not famous but my name is... Chuck Yeager

And my wife says she is a relative of Michael Bolton, but I don't know why she would admit to that! :D

I can trace our family back to Brian Boru
