My DGM (turning 80 this June) had breast cancer 12 yrs ago--masectomy, chemo, radiation. That turned out to be the "easiest"
. 8 years ago she had colon cancer, huge surgeries, chemo, rad. Horrible infections that almost killed her repeatedly, but she's a fighter. Now goes in 3X week for antibiotic infusions due to lowered immunities, but still lives alone, has a great attitude towards life, always smiling and chatty, etc.
This week she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia
. She and the dr. have agreed that she will try a new form of low level chemo, but it's looking very grim.
The kids are dealing with it pretty well (they live right there and help her out all the time) but we grandkids (who are more scattered) are really, really upset. So does anyone have any experiences to share about leukemia after another cancer or ??
TIA!
Terri
