Anyone experience any GI issues after dining at Disney?

My family has two upcoming trips in the next 6 months. We love to eat at all the Disney Restaurants. But have had a couple of bad experiences after eating at two places in the last two years. Namely Capt. Jacks and the foodcourt in The Land.

Anyone else have bad luck after eating in the parks or the resorts?

Also... the buffets. Especially. I worry about the food at the buffets.:scared:

Thanks and cheers.

I got food poisoning at the food court 4 years ago. {Yes it was confirmed}It was from a turkey sandwich that tasted a little off but I ate it anyway. Big mistake! We were leaving the next morning and I was so sick. The plane ride home was a blur. I was so exhaused from being violently ill the night before that my husband had to pactically pull me throught the airport, I slept pretty much all the way home and at the airport! I just wanted to be home in my own bed! As many people as Disney feeds in a day, there's bound to be a bad meal here and there. That's the only time in 17 years that I was ever sick at Disney....noone else in my family has ever experienced sickness from a meal. And it didn't stop us from staying at POR....it's one of our favorite resorts. The only other time the food was a problem is when we usually eat way too much and feel horrible afterwards!

Jiko's, it was awful. I was sick all night. Needless to say we won't eat there again.

It's hard to say if it was from Disney dining or something we picked up earlier in the parks or on the plane and happened to coincide after eating.

First off, we've been many times and have NEVER had an issue. Until this past trip over Easter.

We had been there two full days. We had eaten at the Outback (off site) our first night, Citricos the second night. On the third night we went to the Hoop Dee Doo review. We all ate everything there, ate out of the same buckets, and basically shared everything.

After the show as we were on our way back to the room, DD (15) was complaining that she overate. She did eat more than her usual so I wasn't concered. Two hours later, she was still complaining and going into a "moan." She then went to the bathroom and vomited 2-3 times in a one hour span. She went to bed, slept all night, felt like crap the next morning, but was better by noon. The rest of us were fine and we ate everything she did and even shared food with her.

After she got better, we went to 1900 Park Fare that next night for dinner. We all ate off the buffet. DS (12) ate predominantly off the kids buffet. About 6 hours after dinner (middle of the night), he comes into my room to tell me he has stomach pains. He tosses and turns for two hours, go to the bathroom, and vomits--one time. He went to bed, woke up the next day, and felt horrible the entire day and wouldn't eat a thing. The following day he was fine.

I really didn't know what to make of it. It didn't seem like food poisoning or a typical virus. It was just weird. I can't even say I blame it on the dining as we didn't all get sick but were eating the same things.

Thankfully, never. To be on the safe side, though, if I am at a buffet and a supposedly hot food item is tepid, I won't eat it.

I was so sick at 2AM from the luke warm food. We ate at the second show.
Everyone else I went with liked it. and had no problems.
My stomach cannot do buffetts because of the temp of the food.

I can't think of a time that we have had a problem and we have been to many of the establishments named in the above posts. I know that it could happen - it happens at a lot of places. It just hasn't happened to us over the years.

I have a mild case of IBS. I don't take any drugs for it..I can look at certain foods and know if they're going to kill my stomach! :rotfl: I thought for sure WDW would do me in..esp. the buffets since overeating can spur it on. Anyway...we were there for 9 days last Aug. and I didn't have any problems the whole time!! Knocking on wood here but I am hoping for the same results this June!!! :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about that one, JiKo is our favorite restaurant in WDW and we eat there a lot and never had any after affects. What did you eat??

My dh has had some bad experiences at WDW. He got sick from ribs he ate at the Artist Pallette at SSR. I think there was just too much fat on them. We both got sick years ago from YSH's steak tar tar, but hey, it is raw, so that was the chance we took (dah!) ...won't do that again!:lmao:

I understand this all too well. I will most likely be popping Imodium AD like candy while we are there.

My doctor had suggested when traveling pick up some charcoal capsules at a health food store, & if you have any stomach or intestinal problems, this will take care of the problem. Have been doing this for years. Works like a charm. My capsules are 500 mg & you just take 1.

Chicken Puke Pie at the Prime Time Cafe, I was sick as a dog for days, it hampered my enjoyment big time, ruined the Luau (I had some dry bread) and Boma (had a tiny bowl of soup)

Never again with the Chicken Puke Pie :sad2:

A friend of mine experienced some serious... bottoming-out effects after dinner there last year.

A mild case of serious lower GI issues.

Or vice versa.

ANYWAY... I think it may have been one of the sauces. Which are spooned liberally into the dishes from a massive vat of earlier in the day, pre-made sauce.

And sit, for most of the meal, warming up on the edge of the hot grill.:scared:

Can't be prudent.:sad2:

Anyone have a Teppanyicki, Teppanblicki or Teppanpuki experience?

B/c my daughter who's 12 REALLY wants to return in October.

I got a pretty bad stomach ache last year from some of the food at Roaring Forks. One thing I've learned, never eat hot food in food courts. Just stick to cold, pre-packaged items.

I am glad to hear we are not alone! My family gets what we call vacation p**p, you know the kind that is having so much fun that it doesn't want to leave. Anyway, What can we do for that without going to far in opposite direction?

Thanks,
Emily:goodvibes

My DS got sick a few years ago from Mac & Cheese at the Tusker House. He was sick for two days and it took him another two days to even feel a little better. I did go to the food court (we were staying at ASMo) to get some broth and crackers for him and the CM was really nice and asked what was wrong. I told her that he had been sick after eating the Mac & Cheese, and she said she would report it. When we saw her again, she told us she reported it and she also had found out that a few other complaints were reported on the same day as my son getting sick at Tusker House about the food there.

I haven't had any issues but my husband got deathly ill after eating a chicken dish at Spoodles. Needless to say, that's off the list permanently.

I got food poisoning from Planet Hollywood a few years ago. It was NASTY.

I have stomach problems off and on during every Disney trip we take. I stock up on the pepto bismal and took it almost every day last trip as a preventive - which helped.

I am not so sure if it's the food or my sensitivity to different things. I also "blame" it on all the walking and the late hours we keep - very off from my regular routine. Dh & the kids go to the same places and don't get sick. :confused3

Thankfully we have never got sick that way. With all the trips we have made neither my Wife or I have ever had a problem with the food and getting sick. Hopefully this trend will continue. We will be in Disneyland in 3 weeks.
