Anyone excited about the DVC resort at Polynesian?

We are planning on it and looking forward to it. I know the price will be insane but the Poly to us will be worth it.

Sorry I have been out of touch. Is this a done deal? If so I am in! Just had child number 3so I need to add on.

If VGC sells well, my guess will be 190/point
:scared1:

Always wanted to stay at the Poly and do the bfast with the Characters every time we are down there. Excited to stay there yes, ESPECIALLY if they do the overwater bungaloes but I bought OKW waaaaay back when and the point cost now is insane!

I would be into the Poly too, but I doubt we could afford the points now... even in the 5 or so years since I bought in at AKV, I just cannot believe how the cost of points have exploded. When I look at the cost of points now, even at AKV... I am so happy that we did not wait a year or two to think it over more, we managed to sneak in before everything broke the $100/pt mark getting discounts that put us under $90 with developer points etc.... I can't imagine the sticker shock for the early OKW purchasers...

I am also very excited about DVC coming to the Poly. I am concerned about "how" DVC is going to be added to the Poly, and some of the changes that could be coming to the resort itself as part of the overall project (i.e. the possibility of removing the garden feature from the GCH). We will have to see how it pans out, but I'm hoping for the best.

That being said, I would really love the option to stay here as a DVC member. I doubt that I will buy in, as I can't even fathom $180+ per point. BLT will be a more likely add on for me, and I am hoping to time it before the next direct price increase.

We've been dvc members for around 11 years and love dvc but the GF has always been special for us (we got married there and been twice for our anniversary) but its lost that charm, its a hotel thats always been that place you go past on the monorail and everyone wants to stay there. I think now its going to be over run with people, packed pools, resturant, monorail will be crazy.
Having said that, will we give it a try? Sure :confused3

So you don't think the hotel amenities can support the small dvc? I hadn't thought of that. We are staying there in November. It will be interesting to see what it's like. ALso looking forward to the poly. I love it there.

Personally, I don’t think this will be a problem. This is certainly not Disney’s first rodeo adding onto an existing resort. BLT and VWL can be considered very successful add-on’s to existing Disney resorts, and they were done without adding on additional restaurants, front desk capacity, transportation hubs, etc. I truly believe that all aspects of the resort’s accommodations are precisely calculated to ensure that no decrease in service is experienced, especially at Disney’s flagship resort.

Another option is always fun :) and although I don't think we'll buy any (no 1/2 brs???) I wouldn't rule out a splurge stay in a bungalow some year with more family. I am excited to see the renovation of the hotel because although I love visiting the Grand Ceremonial House, the rooms sorely need to be re-imagineered. I think they've been coasting on nostalgia for quite a while. The DVC rooms will hopefully be brand-spanking-new with great theming and it will be fun to see the models. I'm not sure how they are going to top GFV's models though--can't wait to experience them!

Here's hoping they go back to the one bedroom having two bathrooms. I thought that after kidani, and then BLT, they realized that it was a mistake in all the older DVC's--- but then they went backwards with the GF. Disappointing!

The big question is if there will be 1 bedrooms. Rumors are studios and bungalows only.

wow-- how did I miss that one? I've seen the proposed drawings (probably "leaked") but that would be bad. I didn't understand the earlier post with the "no 1/2 bdrs". now I do. I guess they are no longer vacation "homes". They will have to say " welcome ... um.. well, welcome to, um, I guess it is your ... room? um...yeah.

Since they are renovating existing buildings, it would be the quick and easy (cheap) way. Someone mentioned perhaps they would offer connecting studios for larger families/groups.

Honestly, no, I am not excited about the addition of DVC to Disney's Polynesian. Although the Polynesian villas will certainly be a magnificent addition to the DVC collection, I am truly happy with our home resorts and will not add on elsewhere in the near future.

Now, the announcement of a DVC Tomorrow Tower, at the Disneyland Hotel, would certainly be cause for celebration in our family.

So this is rumor at it's purest? If there is no real source, I doubt they would do this. Jambo house is a renovation of existing, and they have all the room types. The one bedroom's living room/kitchen is the same size ( roughly) as the slot for a studio. They can build the lock off 2 bedrooms with the same ease as they did at Jambo.

I'm also confused why a discussion of a DVC resort was moved to mics.? Not that it really matters, but It's not really misc. Maybe it should go to rumors and news if anything.

Agree 100% with this:thumbsup2

We might seriously consider doing an add on here, love this resort and I think it will fit in well.
The GF was always our special resort but it's lost some of it's charm for us now since DVC has been built.

Why do you feel the DVC attributed to losing its' charm?

A DVC add-on at the Disneyland Hotel would honestly make me cry that's how happy I would be.

so--- news and a rumor? what's your point?

I think since DVC announced the resort, discussing it should be on the DVC boards. If they didn't announce it officially, then it would be rumors and news. No sense splitting up discussing it. I posted the dvcnews link to show where I heard about the studios.
