The really BIG problem with dinner on the Wish Class ships

Oh please. I said what kids want. Not what your kids want or any specific kid wants. I was being generic. Im sorry you misread a post and then responded to a post that was never written. And its not an opinion. In the western world the stats and capitalism back it up. most kids just want those things on holidays when at restaurants. And for a one off meal, as distinct to every meal its fine for the majority. Plus on the newer ships there is more variety then described above anyway.
Don't worry, most people knew exactly what you meant. No shame in your comments at all. :tigger:

More kids do want the mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, ect than don't. Some kids are adventurous eaters, but they are the MINORITY.

What do you think it is?
My understanding is the Wish-class ship design was led by someone with no background in naval architecture or cruise ship design. The classic 4 ships were designed as classic ocean-liners with Disney touches throughout. The Wish-class ships primary focus are Disney storytelling/IP and the classic cruise ship features/layout were secondary.

Prove it. With real evidence. Not that kids with sensory issues prefer them. Not that kids whose parents raise them on these foods prefer it. But ALL kids.

Believe it or not, many US parents and many parents in other regions of the world don’t train their kids to each processed junk. Thus, when they go on vacation that is not the go to staple. Kids that prefer these types of food are raised on these types of foods.

Do you not know the difference in the definition of the words "more" and "all"?

Disney cant cater to all. They can only cater to the majority.

We have been on the Dream, Fantasy, Magic, and Wish and out of those ships, the Magic was by far the worst dining experience we have had. When our servers took our dinner orders, they also wanted us to pick dessert at the same time. Without knowing how hungry we would be after our main course, it wasn't ideal for us. We were also never offered drink refills (we had to constantly ask) and our assistant server disappeared after the first night. It was extremely rushed and we were done with our meal in maybe 45 minutes. We never had the same issues on any of the larger ships. I also felt Rapunzel's Royal Table had a horrible layout (by back was towards the stage, so I couldn't eat and see the show at the same time). We have been in Arendelle three times now and two of the times we have been further away from the stage. It wasn't a huge issue for us, but it was a little harder to hear the music at times.
We just did the merrytime cruise on the magic and after the 2nd night we had to talk to the server and head server about the service. It was slow and it didn’t help the 2nd night was at Lumiere’s. We also complained about our assistant server. The 2nd night he never took our drink orders. He just gave us what we ordered the first night yet I never got my drink. I don’t know if our service was bad because we didn’t drink alcohol or not. I did hear that they are breaking in a bunch of new servers since a decent amount of the ones from 2 years ago have gone to the Wonder to be closer to home.

I think it's pretty standard they don't ask the 2nd night about drinks... just delivery what you ordered the 1st night. Butt yeah they really should make sure everyone gets a drink and is happy with it.

I think breaking in new servers has become the norm for a few years now.... issues with new ships, poaching and just standard attrition. We had one last year, that it was his first week with Disney. I think back in the old days they had more training before being put in front of guests. Asked one of the girls in the bar for Spiced Rum and Coke... got a botte of hot sauce with my Rum and Coke.

We just got back from our cruise on the Destiny and I stand on my opinion on the dining venues, especially Pride Lands. The ship is gorgeous. But I'm trying to focus strictly on the MDR food service. We were there for 2 nights. One of them was Pirate Night where they didn't do any show or anything special during dinner. Both nights the food service was extremely slow. Pirate Night took well over 90 minutes from placing our orders to delivery of dessert. The show night was even longer. Our table was positioned near one of the wait stations on the side, so distance wasn't an issue. Our food was at least warm.

I will concede that the size not the only issue. The layout of the tables causes added problems for our wait staff. They are forced to go on one side first and then do the other side. Having the tables crammed tightly together forces this and also forces them to reach from behind to deliver our plates. And we still highly dislike how close the tables are to each other.

You don't have to think too hard about this. Disney offers kids menus at all of their restaurants and there's a kids are at the buffet. What do they all serve? Mostly mac & cheese, chicken tenders, pizza, hot dogs, etc. There are some exception, but overwhelmingly what Disney makes available to kids is that kind of stuff. Why? Almost certainly, it's because their research indicates that most kids want those foods.

I've never had this happen on any Disney cruise. And why would it? Each restaurant has special drinks that you can order. Besides that, who wants the same thing every night?
They are not talking about alcoholic drinks but more soft drinks, tea, milk or juice, especially for the kids. If you order a Coke the first night it was usually waiting for you the second night and each there after unless you ask for something different.

We have found ordering an alcoholic beverage at dinner to be a bad choice if you are in a rush to make a show or activity as it takes a long time to get the bill for it at the end of dinner service each night. We save our drink purchasing for the bars instead of at dinner.

This has been my experience as well. If I order a soda with dinner the first night they bring me a soda automatically even though we have the wine package. It's funny I wouldn't have maybe ordered the soda but I sure did drink it each night when they brought it to the table. My child is under 21 and after the 1st night they never has to ask for a soda again, they just get their Shirley Temple after we sit down.
We were on the Magic in Nov and Dec and there was a difference in MDR service between the two sailings. We were fully booked in December and we had the wine package. It took my husband 25 minutes to get a glass of wine on night 3, We had finished a bottle so they needed to open a new one but he told them when he sat down to bring us the same bottle we had before and he gave them the name. This is not our servers fault per say. Disney knew how many people would be on the ship and they didn't have the staff to serve us. Our team was working so hard to stay on top of everything but there were just too many tables. I was disappointed the head servers didn't seem to jump in and help they just walked about glad handing people. We told them to downgrade us from a 4 night to a 3 night package as we wouldn't be able to drink the wine since we couldn't get served. We got no push back and saw the bill adjustment the next day.

I sure don’t. Because I can read many posts on this thread where parents are saying to stop pushing / assuming that kids eat only these items you mention. So this thread alone shows it isn’t most or all. Disney puts this on there, the same as they put the crap on the adult menu. It is cheap and easy.
