Anyone ever use "tough love" with their older kids? UPDATE!

UPDATE: I was able to do what I needed to do today and I stayed strong (with the help of a really good friend). I had my son sent to a 30day treatment program. I hope he will be able to start getting his life in order. It was tough to sit across a court room with him in handcuffs and shackles while he looked at me and asked me "Why would you do this?" BRAVO for you! You're on the right road.. Now the hard part will be not to waiver - or buy into his "Mom, it will never happen again" until he has EARNED your trust again..

I mean look at his options!!! And Why did he act the way he did!...

Since I don't know the exact nature of the difficulties with your child I hate to give you advise, but I will suggest this to you --- look for a support meeting in your area. Al-anon is wonderful in helping you help yourself. The guilt about using tough love can wear on you -- especially if the other person knows how to push your buttons. Take time to take care of yourself and know that you are doing the right thing.
