Has anyone used Sanford Transportation from Sanford Airport to WDW? Any comments? They seem pretty inexpensive but don't have much info on their website

Transportation from Sanford is mainly taxi, car service or rental cars. There is no DME or Mears shuttle from that airport. The mileage from Sanford to Disney is about twice that of the mileage from Orlando to Disney (50 to 58 miles depending on the resort you go to). Taxi transportation will run you approximately $125.00 to Disney one way. It is a Mears cab and like big corporations Mears continues to try to drive the price up. Car service will run you around $160.00 to $240.00 round trip. A lot depends on the number in your party and the company. The care service uses town cars, SUV's and vans.

The companies listed on the Sanford airport web site are usually the companies who are the least expensive because they do regular business in the airport and try to keep their rates down. Some companies will also stop at the grocery store. I don't have any idea what the rental cars charge from there. Many companies or ride brokers list Sanford as an airport they pick up at, but check out the prices which are usually much higher because the rides are subbed out on a commission basis.

The drive from Sanford to WDW can be made in shorter time than if you land Orlando and take the DME to WDW. Sanford is a small airport and you walk to the baggage claim in less than 10 minutes where luggage is usually coming out when you arrive. The transportation is located outside the terminal about 5 minutes away and you will be on your way to Disney. If you have a driver who knows the traffic patterns you are about 50 minutes away from WDW.

Thanks for the info. :goodvibes

I reread my original post and I realize I wasn't very clear. I'm looking for feedback on the "Sanford Transportation" car service company. My sister booked with them for our upcoming trip and I'm just trying to find out if anyone on the Dis has used them in the past.

I am interested in this as well. We are flying into Sandford in December. I just called this company and they charge $145 round trip with a free grocery stop. This is much cheaper than I have found for a rental car so far!

I am also using Sanford and looking at the best option... What company did you find round trip from Sanford to Disney for $145, that is way cheaper than anything I have found.

Thanks for the help.

The name of the company is "Sanford Transportation" which, I believe, is the company that the OP is asking about. If you go to their website, it lists roundtrip transportation to any Disney Resort for $145. This also includes free car seats and a free grocery stop. Unless I can get a rental car for really cheap through Priceline, this is probably who we will go through.

We are landing in Sanford Aug 20th. Look at all options and finally decided to rent a car through Enterprise. With an Entertainment Book discount total with tax and fees $215 for a compact car for 7 days.

I like the freedom to come and go as we please.

A comment in a previous post about the size of the Sanford airport has me wondering something :confused3 How early do need to arrive at airport when departing?

International 3 hours. Domestic (Allegiant) 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours.

Even at Sanford 1 1/2 - 2 hours??? From MCO I can see that. Just thought with the smaller airport and shorter security lines might be able to arrive a bit closer to departure.

Sanford Transportation - any reviews on the company? It seems a bit too cheap to be true...

Rule one of the TSA. At small airports they staff fewer people so lines are the same.

Rule two. At small airports the agents have less to do, that means they can play "lets make up new rules today" on an ongoing basis.

I fly a LOT. Give me the TSA at a BIG airport any day. They are business like and get the job done. At a small airport, it's like a game... and they just randomly decide to do things that will screw things up!

Give yourself the same amount of time in case you lose the TSA lottery!

Rule three Small airlines might not have very many employees checking in passengers with luggage. One of the LCC, I don't remember which one or if they're still flying, had a luggage check in rule of 60 minutes (may have been more) before your flight. REASON The employees who checked the bags were also the GA and they loaded luggage on the plane.

Get to the airport within an hour and the counter where you check luggage will be unmanned.

Busy airports are more likely to increase staffing during peak travel times and have more automated check in kioshes.

Airlines and airports have suggested check in times for a reason. It's not a good idea to second guess the times.

With Sanford Transportation there is a possibiloity that you will be transferred as a shuttle passenger. The company is known to have transported 2 or 3 families in one vehicle. It may require a little bit of waiting before you get on the road to Disney. This you won't know about until your reach the airport and than it is to late. Most car service companies do not transfer more than one family per vehicle.

You might ask if they are transporting other families at the same time before you book, so you have some ground to discuss matters when you are faced with the situation.

Why spend $145 when you could rent a car for cheaper.

You can rent a car at Sanford airport on the day of arrival and turn it in the next day. There is an Alamo and National rental counter on WDW property. There is a Dollar and Avis very close to DTD.
A one way car rental should cost around $40. With renting a car it allows you to go to the grocery store at your leasure. It also allows you a few chances to eat off property and save some serious $$. The money you save by eating off property pretty much pays for the car rental!
When it is time to return to the airport go back to the rental center and rent another car. Alamo at WDW will come and pick you up at your resort.

Don't for get the $145 you are planning to pay does not include the tips. You will need to tip the person who takes you to WDW and the one who takes you back to the airport. So now you are actually just under $200!!!

So with a r/t rental the cost should be $80 or less. Look for last minute deals. Alamo just had a offer of $10 a day!

Where did you find the Alamo offer. I need 10 days of rental if we keep it the whole time, seems like more hassel than I want to bother with to drop off and pick back up.
