Anyone ever use Hotwire to secure a car rental?

My in-laws just told me they used Hotwire and got a midsize rental from Avis for $149 for the week - Aug 21-28(total). I've been trying out every code and coupon possible and have only been able to get National down to $183 for the same week. Is there any reason why I shouldn't go with Hotwire like they are?

I got a full size for $11/day last September. I don't usually use sites which are non-refundable, but booked about a day before the trip. They only use the major companies.

No concerns here!

Never used Hotwire for a car, but have you tried Thrifty? There rates are pretty low right now.

The problem with Hotwire is you won't see what compant you are renting from until you book. At least I think so.

But it doesn't really matter, they use Budget, Avis, Hertz, I believe. None of the local companies. They have the companies listed on their site. If you don't care if it's a Budget car or an Avis car, does it matter?

Edited to add: I can confirm that it is those three, based on the website. The only downside would be if you didn't want to travel offsite to Hertz, but if the savings are big enough, it's worth it. Simply sign up for Hertz #1 Club or Gold Club (check out mousesavers.com) to bypass the line. I have rented from Hertz many times at MCO and it really doesn't take much longer to get there.
