...and if so, we'll we most likely get :badpc: at the dealer if we trade it in? I can't seem to find what the resell or trade-in value of mine is anywhere (in case we decide to try to sell it ourselves). Just wondering what anyone else's experience here was.

Thanks in advance!

Up here the used market is pretty full, we may have considered trading ours up but I cant afford to take the beating on depreciation.

My wife just looked into this and the trade in value from her trailer to the C class was terrible they will really try to put the screws to you on the trade you would be better off selling the trailer yourself then buying the C class. The dealer wanted to give us about 40% of resale value as a trade in.

Yeesh...yeah, I had a feeling if we want to pursue it we should try to sell it ourselves.
Itsmej - if your husband happens to know what the value of a 2006 Maxsport 26bhs would be, that would be great (It's not listed on nada) made by Trailite or Trailmanor or something like that. It is 28.5 feet long has a superslide (the dining area and sofa slide out) one queen/double in back and 2 "double" sized bunks up front (along with the usual stuff found in TT - bath/kitchen stuff, etc). We owe $17K as it stands now. Thanks in advance for any info!

I talked with DH. He's going fishing tomorrow but will get you the information Thursday. This is what you're looking for: True bank loan value or true NADA "not" what is online or in reg. NADA book. Also remember what they tell you they are giving you is most likely not what the true number is. They will add it back somewhere. Always get the "bottonline" number. It doesn't really matter what the trade amount is if they're Knocking your head off on the bottom line.

We bought a new Carriage fifth wheel in May 2004. At a spring 2006 RV show we found a Class A Diesel Pusher we just loved. We went to the dealer and talked about a deal. They gave us exactly what we paid for the 5er in 2004 and knocked off $30,000.00 :yay: So, you can get a deal but you won't know unless you go talk to them.

Thanks itsmej! (And tell your husband thanks too :) ).

Wow Brad - that was a pretty awesome deal!

Sounds like you got a great deal. You can find really good deals at shows.

Just wanted to let you know I haven't forgot about you. We both worked late tonight so, we didn't get a chance to talk. He was still beat from the fishing trip yesterday. I'll post the information tomorrow morning.

I am currently trading in my 2007 Keystone Hobbi for a 2007 Keystone Cougar 310 SRX. I just got my Hobbi last July after trading in my 2004 Tailgator for what I thought was more room. I was sadly mistaken. I paid 15.5K for the Hobbi and the dealer is giving me 14.2K now. You have to watch the one's who do those 2 column quote sheets. My dealer is showing that he's giving me about 22K for mine when really what he did was added 8K to my trade which was really what he was discounting off the Cougar. He did show my payoff and all the numbers did jive so I'm happy. I just wish they would show you the real figures instead of confusing you with mumbo jumbo. It's like anything else, the only way to get a good deal is to not have a trade. It did save a lot in taxes though I have to admit. You're always going to take a hit on a trade no matter if it's 1 years old or 10 years old. I tried selling my previous camper and found it hard to get my price. It was just easier to let the dealer take it on trade. Good luck.

This should at least stay as on topic as the rest of the thread. My aunt and uncle purchased a class A paid about 20K, within a year they traded it in for a bigger one for about 50k ( not sure of trade to actual value ratio) now its been less than a year on the second and they are about to trade again. paid about 50k but getting close to 80K trade with a huge discount on the new one. I agree with the other post that if you look and ask, some times you can get a deal.

P.S. I just think this is funny, they have only camped at one park and it was only about 5 minutes from their house. I guess they finally got tired of ous making fun of them because now they camp about 20-30 minutes from home. Same park they just moved houses.:rolleyes1 :confused3
insanity is relative, or at least my relative.:rotfl2:

The other hit that you take here in MI is on the license plate. A few years ago you paid for your plate yearly, I think ours was $38. Then it got switched to a "permanent" plate for $200. The plate is only permanent to ME, it doesnt transfer. Just to break even I have to keep my trailer for 6 years.

I love my class C (and wouldn't trade it for the world, well maybe for one with slides;) ), but am seeing TONS of used ones for sale all over the upper midwest. Maybe consider selling your TT yourself, then look at buying a gently used C from a private seller? Lots of bargains out there! Just get a good inspection from a reputable mechanic.

Here' what I found.

Sugg. list $20204.
used w/s trade-in $11890.
used retail $15800.

I personally would try to sale it on my own first. Remember you will have to pay tax on that.
OR
Go to a dealership tell them what you want and what monthly payment you're willing to pay and see what they have for you. How they put the numbers only matters at that end(the bottom line difference).

We kept our TT for about a year and traded it off on a Class A because I just couldn't refuse the deal we got. The dealer would not even consider taking the TT in trade! We had to sell it ourselves, and that went over like a brick. We put it on consignment and it took 7 months to sell. We took a big hit on the depreciation in that one year. Would I do it again??? If someone offered me 35K off blue book for a Class A, yes, I would. The savings in the long run was well worth the hit we took on the TT.
