I really thought about it on this trip. I would LOVE TO WORK THERE especially for DVC. I told my husband...we need to get him transferred there. LOL

Wedding Planner at WDW, can you imagine, planning parties all day - and 'spending' other people's money.

I agree. I've thought this would be a great job too...since I LOVE to plan & organize. Also, DH & I are nurses and we thought it might be neat to work at one of the first aid stations at WDW. Wonder how much they pay...I've heard rumblings that Disney doesn't pay their employees very well, but that the benefits are pretty good...like getting in the parks for free...who knows though

Not sure what I'd do, but in my retirement, after 30+ years of teaching I would love to work for Disney, preferably in CA. They gotta have some use for me besides ride operator or store clerk, right? 2025 is not that far away!

I wanted the job where the person just stands in the lobby saying "Welcome Home" all day long, or I could also refill the cookie tray in the preview center. I decided that I want a job where I don't have to do much.;)

Don't know about the pay but a cast member at DTD showed me and dd his Disney I.D. and he said that I.D. could get him into any park 24/7 and behind the scenes too. HE said that he he worksat EC...he goes early and does his walk for exercise around the World Showcase before anyone ever gets there. Nice Huh?? They do get free tickets.

My DH and I tell the kids that when we retire we are going to work at WDW. My DH a monorail driver and me...I would love to be the Fairy Godmother!!
My DD7 wants to be Airel and DD10 wants to be an enginear and design rides!
I think this is a very good plan..now if I could just afford Celebration:rolleyes1

I am constantly looking at Disney's career site and hoping for something. Mostly for hubby. We would move in a heartbeat!!

DH and I talk about moving to FL for retirement (many years from now). Then I could work part time at WDW. I would love to work in the Haunted Mansion or at Tower of Terror. What fun to scare people in the Happiest Place on Earth, ha ha. DH says once he's retired he's not working anywhere, not even Disney:confused3

My SIL wants to work as one of the Behind the scenes tour guides, or as a Segway tour guide.

Any job at WDW would be a dream job for me!! (well, except cleaning the bathrooms). Waiting for the kids to get settled down somewhere, then I'm off to Florida!! And of course, they'll all have room for Mom, when I want to come home for a visit.

DH isn't as much of a WDW fanatic as me, but he knows that if anything happens to him, I'm outta here to work at WDW.

Since we were married at WDW, my first reaction was to be a wedding planner when I retire, but then I realized the stress this job entails. Now, I think I would be much happier as a volunteer "helper" for Fairy Tale Weddings.
I would still get to live the magic, but without the stress (or a paycheck). Maybe someday. . .

But on the other hand, most of the people I have worked with at Disney, rarely, if ever, go to the parks. So, part of me worries that if I lived in Orlando or worked at WDW I would tire of it, and I definitely NEVER want to lose the magic!! :wizard:

I contstanly go back and forth on this issue. . .

My DH and I joke about this all the time. He is a firefighter and I am a nurse. He already sounds like a DVC sales person! He will tell anyone who will listen. We he retires from the Fire dept (approx 2 years from now!) he wants to be a DVC sales guy and I want to be one of the Disney characters. I think by then the closest I could come to being a Princess would be the Fairy Godmother!!:rotfl:

Could he hook a fellow firefighter up with a cheaper deal on DVC. I'd buy more points from him.
I don't think I'd want to work there. We love our vacations there. We're already taking vacations where we don't go to the parks now. So being down there all the time might make us stay away more. But if I had to choose a job I would love to dress up as the YETI at Expedition Everest

DW has said that when we retire we are going to "work" at WDW. She doesn't care what she does, along as she gets to say "Have a magical day":goodvibes

I'd love to retire, move to FL, and work on Main Street, but my DH says he could handle the summers in FL.

I also would love to be in a nighttime parade at the MK. I know at my age that isn't going to happen.

I would love to work for WDW!!!
But I think the retirees who work there have the right idea. They do it for fun. Disney Does'nt pay very much.
I was also surprised when talking to about 4-5 different RN's who work there that they all had to spend 1-2 years in Sales or some other job before they could get the RN job.:scared1: There is no shortage of RN's there. (Darn!! I'm a ER RN. There goes that idea!!!):confused3
Back to real life and planning my next WDW vacation!:dance3:

my crew just reminded me that I could play Goofy anytime

I actually applied a few years ago when I lived in Orlando to be the survey person when you first enter the park. But the jobs were full by the time my interview came. They still interviewed me and asked if I was interested in anything else. They said they had character auditions coming up and asked if I was interested. Based on my height, they told me I could be Tigger. I took the information, but never went to the audition. As much as I love Disney, the thought of jumping around in a big hot suit in the FL sun was not appealing. My dream job would be in their video department.
