Anyone ever think of working in Disney after they retire?

My hubby and I are both teachers, and have talked about working at WDW when we retire also.:D

Sounds as if we'll all have alot of company from these boards down there-so many of us want to work at Disney World. I'm also a teacher-would love to work at Disney when I retire, doing guest relations at a hotel (or maybe 1 month at each hotel, so I rotate and see them all). One time I was standing near guest relations when a family was asking how to get to the Character Breakfast at Cape May Cafe. I couldn't believe the CM had no idea what they were talking about! Fortunately, I overheard and was able to give them directions. That's when I decided what I want to do, I can't believe they have such incompetents (LOL)!

i am trying to convince my husband to move now...

One job I would love to do at WDW is be a wedding planner... I think it would be so much fun!

other great jobs for me would be to design and put up all of the holiday decorations.....

actually, I would do just about anything if it meant I could live down there!!!!!!:p

This is a fun thread.

It would be my dream comes true to work at WDW. Haven't figured out what I could do there yet:D

It does seem WDW hire many retired people though. When we were there in Feb., I went in to the store where they carry grocery items on the Boardwalk, the lady who was helping me looked like she was in her 70's. It gives me hope, I still have many years that I can potentially work there:p

My dream job is to be one of the those guys that are climbing the tree stump to get away from the rhino on the Jungle Cruise ride. That would be awesome...

...Or even better, one of the pilaging pirate in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Those guys got all the money and all the chicks!!

Oh I bet they love retired folk. Most don't need benifits, aren't looking for 40 hrs, schedule is flexible, great work ethic and personality. perfect match for each other.

I'm a science teacher and the only thing I love more than NASA is Disney... so I'm going to work at Mission Space. :)

My daughter (15) loves working with animals (feeding,/grooming, she shows livestock at animal competitions), so she'll work at AK or AKL being a handler/caretaker. :)

I want to be Fairy Godmother--you get to sit on a throne in the castle:Pinkbounc

I love this thread. As I live in the UK I don't think I have much chance. but my dream would be to retire to Orlando. I'd like to drive the Mike Fink keel boats or the Liberty Bell Riverboat. It's so peaceful on the water and would suit me down to the ground.:D

This is our plan too.
We have talked about it since we honeymooned at WDW in 97.

Retirement is still 20-30 years away for us, so there is that chance we could change our minds and not want to do it.
But and early retirement and relocation to WDW sounds great to me.

Count me as another one to work at WDW. A lady I worked with did that about 4 years ago. I've lost touch with her though. She and her husband would winter in an RV park in their motor home and work PT at WDW for 2 winters that I know of. Both times they wound up working 3 days a week at MGM on the food carts. Last time I talked to her she still looked forward to it.

I also want to be a Disney bus driver. Crack jokes, make the ol' bus lean wwaaayyyyy over on the turns.

Know what would be cool. Book a 3 week stay at OKW and commute from there.

My DH has said that he would like to work for Disney when he retires, but...he has tattoos and I don't think he can. Anyone know if this is still a no-no?

DW & DD keep saying I'll be the happy go lucky bus driver that never stops talking about Disney.

DW & I keep telling DD that in 5-6 years, she'll have to visit us in Florida. I think that my enthusiasm and positive outlook would be best suited for Guest Relations. I enjoy talking to and helping folks with whatever they would need to have a magical stay. Although, on our December 2002 trip we did get to ride up front on the Monorail 3 times and let me tell you, it would be nice.

The Disney spirit and dream is alive on the DisBoards and in my heart.:D

It has always been my dream to live in FL and work at WDW. Actually when I was single I was a nanny in FL and went to WDW frequently. They had the largest # of applicanats ever that summer! When DH and I were down there last May and I talked to CMs about it, several said they had retired there to work for Disney, and they also said they needed more CMs right then! It was hard to get back on the plane...

Where would I like to work? Guest Services or with one of the children's programs. Joining DVC has made me feel I'm part way to having a home in FL!

I would love to if I could find a way to keep DW cool all year. I guess she could work at the Ice Station(not sure of name)

jobs I want:

1-- drive the ferry boat to the Magic Kingdom so I could see the Castle all day. Actually not drive but assist and just RING that bell all day.

2--drive the boats at Epcot resorts
and ring that bell all day.

3--sit at top of LUNA POOL slide and enjoy the view while saying "ok you can go now"to the next slider and "watch out for that scary clown down there" I think I would make a tape of that phrase and just let it run every 10 seconds so I could really enjoy the view and not even talk.

4--test ride Buzz lightyear every morning for the safety of our guests:bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc

5--rent bikes at the BW on the boardwalk:D

6--drive the Magic Kingdom Train and RING THAT BELL TOO!

7--GOTTA GO I'll add more later

One dream I had as a kid was to be a tour guide at DL. So, yes I'd love to work at a Disney park after "retirement".

Since I was a child and took my first ride in the Haunted Mansion, would LOVE to be the greeter in the mansion. I'm a doctor who wouldn't mind "taking call" there!!:jester:
