Anyone ever think of working in Disney after they retire?

YES, YES, YES!!! I want to work in transportation and drive guest to and from the hotels to parks ect...
Would you believe this is my dream, my goal and my ambition? BTW, my husband things I'm NUTS!!

My DH and I also talk about this everytime we're down in WDW. My DH is planning on driving a bus or one of the boats and I want to be one of the people at the DVC booths explaining how wonderfurl DVC is. I can't wait!!! We plan on spending January through April or May in Florida and then heading back up north for the summer. Of course our plans will be affected by what our kids end up doing, we'd like to live most of the year near them.

We're going to WDW this Friday for spring break...I'll keep my eyes open for any other neat jobs.

Count us in!!

DH & I talk about this ALL THE TIME!! If I stay where I am for 9 more years, they'll pay medical insurance for me and DH as long as I live - what a savings!!

I'll take any air-conditioned job I can get! I'd love to work on a continuous load ride where you just keep walking all day - think Spaceship Earth. Then I could be at Disney AND be paid to exercise...LOL!

See you all there!!

No heat. No rain. And you only have to deal with five people at a time in the front cab. Besides, it's the coolest ride on the planet.

Or a chef at one of the high end restaurants.

I have always thought I would like to work at Disney in the winter after we retire. At first I thought I wanted to drive a tram and make everyone get on on time and take off. But I've found a new job that I want. A starter at the golf courses. Would do it for free golf. The best winter job and at Disney as a bonus. I hope they have joba available in seven years and want part-timers.

Even though I have alot of years left, I find my self thinking about retiring and working at Disney. I would even take the clean up job behind the horses on Main Street just to be in the park!

I love this thread. I had my annual review and my boss asked me what my goal was for the upcoming year. I told DH that I was going to write - 1) win the lottery and 2) move to FL where I will work a no-brainer job at WDW!
...LOL! Annmarie

Since I know Annmarie's boss I would have given a million dollars to be a fly on the wall to see her boss's reaction to that!

I'm not waiting until I retire...I plan on hitting the lottery (hey I can dream!) and working in WDW from January through April. I'd like to be in some sort of guest relations capacity, or give some kind of tour.

DBF is a pro photographer- so guess what he wants to do!;) he says he could give them MUCH better photos for their materials than what they are publishing, and after seeing the pics in the last DVC guidebook I have to agree! :) :)

Im already a little Goofy so I would love that role...but in reality Im already a builder by trade so it would be cool to take those wonderful Imagineers ideas and put them into physical form. My DW and I have in fun talked about buying a 2nd house in Orlando(besides the one inside WDW at WLV) to stay for those sometimes awful winters in NC...not a bunch of snow but ice and freezing rain that causes power outtages...then come back to NC for summer. Yeah I could handle that...Le Cellier steaks at a moments notice MMMMMMMMMMMM!!

Planning on it in 20 years.

Could there be a 60-year-old Samantha Sterling?

My DH and I joke about this all the time. He says he'll be one of those cute little old men picking up trash on Main Street. When he gets hot, he can come into the ice cream shop where I'll be working and I'll give him an ice cream cone to cool him off!

We'll buy an RV and live down there in the winter, and drive back to NJ for summer.

(He can drive the RV, I'll follow in the convertible!) LOL!
Our kids (DD16 & DS12) think we are serious, and nuts! But it is a possibility in the back of my mind.

looking at it this very moment. I'm in AK,at the "Tree". Next to me is a CM, I've taken his little broom and mini dumpster on a stick thingy. I'm in training. That's all I want to do. No ambition. No responsibilty other then my little area. Have a great tan. Just learn simple phrases: "The restrooms are right over there Mam." "Yes Mam,Walt is dead" "No Mam,his heads not frozen inside the Castle".

I feel calmer already, just thinking about it.

Good one! Mine would be driving the boats from Epcot to MGM.
BTW, we met you at the hot tub at BCV in November. Good to match a post to a face.

I was talking with a CM who has been there for 4 years. Well, six months each of those years. They are snowbirds. They go home in the spring I guess and come back to WDW each Fall, where a job waits for each of them. Best of both worlds, I guess. :D

And my husband thinks I'm crazy when I talk about buying an RV when we retire:crazy: How else are we going to work at WDW in the winter and tour the country in the summer:confused:

Hey,good memory there Buz. I can always say I've meet at least one other Diz board member. When ya headin' back to the World ?

I am currently the Assistant Superintendent of a mid-size public school. Therefore, a job at the Tower of Terror would be a perfect match.

However, I really would prefer working at one of the Disney golf courses. Free golf would be a great perk!

I wonder if there are any jobs for someone who isn't a 'people person'. I would love to work at WDW, but I am not out going and DH isn't either. I want quiet office work, 3 days a week, 4-6 hours a day. DH would like computer work with the same hours.

We only have 25 more years before we can retire. I wonder if they will will have computers by them :( . Maybe I could help CMs get in and out of costumes. Something 'behind the scenes' would be good for me and defiantly a NO BRAINER job. I had enough of that during my 'real' working years  .

I'd forgotten about it until I read this post, but on my last job interview they asked where I'd like to be in 5 years. I told them I wanted to be the CEO of Disney. Well, that didn't happen. :)
