Anyone ever receive free park passes?

We returned from a trip in December and I wrote a letter to Disney about some things that took place during our trip that I was upset over.

Anyway, Disney was great and called me to discuss. To make up for it they are sending my a couple of 3 day park hopper passes.

My question is did anyone ever get these before? I was wondering if I added days to them do they just charge you the difference between a 3 day and say a 10 day, or because they were special "free" passes do I have to pay for the entire 10 days?

I ask because the bulk of the price in tickets is for 3 days. After that it is only a few dollars per day (two 3 day park hoppers are $474 but two 10 day park hoppers are only $508 or $34 more). I am just trying to figure out what it is going to cost so I can see when I can afford to go back.

Thanks for the help.

FIL received 1 day hopper passes years ago after making a complaint and gave them to DH to use for our recent WDW trip. We found that we couldn't combine them with any other ticket offers or get credit towards multi day passes, so we just kept them. It's a good thing they're non-expiring though- FIL got them in '89 and who knows when we'll ever use them. Hope this helps.

Yeah I just called them to check.

Doesn't do me much good then as it doesn't pay to pay for plane tickets, car rental, hotel, etc for 3 days. Guess it is there way to get you there and make you buy new tickets.

Oh well.

how long were you planning on staying? Can't you use the free ones and then buy a three day pass or something?

You could always do what we do, three days in he parks with off days in between to rest, play games, swim and such. Or you could go during a party time and just buy tickets for a party. Then you'd have half a day of swimming and half a day of MK.

You could buy additional passes. You could go for maybe five days and only go to the parks three of those days, and take advantage of Downtown Disney, the hotel pool, and resort hopping on the other two days. You could sell the passes. You could donate the passes to someone you know who wants to go or maybe to a child in need (terminally ill, etc).

You have already been answered, but I got 3 comp tickets for work and each one had "complimentary" printed on the back.

If you try to upgrade them, as soon as they are slid through the reader the screen will say that they are complimentary and not upgradable.

If you have to buy new tickets to finish the vacation, the value of using the complimentary tickets is quite small. But one person can use several comp. tickets while someone else buys a new longer expiring ticket.

I dont see how someone can complain about getting something for free! Use them or don't use them.:sad2:

Disney passes sell quite well on Ebay. They fetch very close to face value. You could sell the tickets to someone on Ebay, and us THAT money to buy a longer ticket. ;)

ETA: And I would think people would actually be MORE willing to buy complimentary tickets Ebay because they know they're valid.

Kind of off topic, but how would you trade in old park tickets for the new ones they swipe through at the turnstyle? (For whenever we do decide to use them)

Guest services can take paper tickets and transfer them to cards, if that's what you mean?

Yeah, that's what I meant, thanks. Another ?, since my ticket says that it's good at MK, Epcot and MGM does that mean I can't use it at AK? If that's the case, how would they stop me from going to AK b/c its a park hopper ticket?

No, tickets that were issued pre-AK will be upgraded to regular Park Hoppers for free. :goodvibes

That's pretty cool. I still don't know when I'm going to use them, though...I'll never go all the way to WDW for just one or two days. :confused3

You could probably sell them on Ebay! (This appears to be a theme today, I've suggested it in another thread, too. LOL!)

We got free park hoppers as we were evacuated on 9/11/01 - we used them that same trip since we were stuck there & the 4-day PHs we bought had run out. No better place to be stranded during a national emergency!
