Just wondering if anyone had ever won a condo rental on ebay... Is there anything specific I should ask or look for? Is a transfer of an already paid ressie allowed? Thanks for all your help!

I have had great experiences renting from Resort Rentals International. They offer some good last minute deals on their website, but they often also have good deals on E-bay. Their buy-it-now prices aren't as good as their auction prices. They may be able to customize an auction for you with specific dates at a specific resort at possibly a negotiated good price. They have done this for me and I was very happy.

I also book condos in Las Vegas using E-bay. I find a good price around my date and contact a seller. They put an auction together for my dates and make a tentative reservation at the resort first before I purchase using buy-it-now. I have used two sellers so far and just bought from a third. The last person even upgraded me for free from a one to a two bedroom.

I would make sure to buy from someone with a long history of 100% approval ratings. I have stuck with people whose businesses are renting condos but stay away from the offers requiring a timeshare tour. I think there would be a better chance of having a problem if I buy from an individual.

Sometimes, name changes on reservations are not allowed by a resort. If I make a reservation using my Getaways weeks certificate, the person whose name is on the certificate needs to be the person checking in. There are probably different rules if you are a timeshare owner and are just trying to rent your week.

Is it more legit if they are Square Trade Verified or travel verified? There is an auction I'm watching from Resort International. Is the auction price the total price? or Will I have to pay taxes when I arrive on the property? How will the property know I have a ressie, etc.? Sorry for the questions but I'm nervous to do this. My condo fell through - very long story - and I'm trying to get a place for over the holidays (almost impossible right now). lol Thanks for all your help!!!

You have to be SquareTrade travel verified to sell travel on Ebay.
Always check the seller's length of time on Ebay and their feedback, if they give you contact info. (phone #, etc.) and go from there. There are many legitimate sellers of travel on Ebay (including myself).

I recently purchased a week on ebay at Bonnet Creek Resort. Be advised that you will have to pay sales tax on your bid, as it is a purchase from a travel seller not an owner. My week was great, no time share sales pitch. I was given the original confirmation with the owners name. There was some confusion due to the name, but it worked out. I would definately do it again.

I didn't have to pay any additional money on top of my purchase price when I purchased from Resort Rentals International on Ebay. A person by the name of Brooke Hondel answered my emails quickly and was very helpful.

They put the reservation in my name and emailed me the certificate to present at the desk.

I would not hesitate to buy from them again.

I purchased a Marriott week from an owner in NJ on eBay. The transaction worked out fine and I didn't have to pay anything above my winning bid.

I rented 3 condos at Cypress Pointe Grande Villas from the same seller and got a great price. All I paid was the bid price. Read the auction carefully, if there are extra charges, they should be in the description. Email the seller with any questions, so you know exactly what you're getting (and to make sure there are no other extra charges).

I only use sellers who take Paypal, and I use a credit card. I like having the extra protection "just in case".

I agree with the others. Ebay is a great option, just make sure they are an established seller with good feedback (and use a credit card ;) ).
