they knew that in a week they were to begin their new job..
i was supposed to start the 27th but they asked me to start the 20th and I was going to give my 2 weeks notice tomorrow
making my last day the 24th ...but since they
asked me to start the 20th I kinda just wanna quit some day this week....I really hate the place that I am at now anyways...

I mean every where u werk now is an "At will company"
well it seems that the at will has leaned more towards the company side that the employee...But i do have the right to exercise the at will....It does say that Either the employee or employer has the right to terminate at any time.

whatcha think?

Yes, but "never burn your bridges behind you". You just never know.

Congrats on your new job. I have to agree with buzzlady. I would probably given at least the weeks notice. But that is just me.

Be careful. Does your company have some kind of rule regarding not getting due vacation time, etc..... if you don't fulfill your 2 weeks notice?

Probably best to give some notice rather than just bail out. :D

I would never burn my bridges you never know what could happen in the future no company should expect you to quit w/o a 2 week notice.

I see it both ways. You don't want to burn bridges but at the same time, you have to look out for yourself.

Up to you I guess. If you don't like your current boss, and really want to stick it to that person, then up and quit. But, if you like the person, then give at least a weeks notice and tell your new boss that it'd be only right to do as such.

Sorry if I'm not being helpful

Some bridges are worth burning.

I worked for a company once that had a huge turnover and everyone I ever saw give a two week's notice was immediately given that two weeks pay and vacation time and told to leave.

I sought out a new job and explained this to my new boss - I must give two weeks notice, but they probably won't take it.

I gave two weeks. Guess what. They agreed to it. Why, I have no idea, everyone was absolutely flabbergasted. Luckily my new boss was very understanding. So understanding in fact, that he paid me anyway because it was too much trouble to change the paperwork.

So I got two weeks of pay from two different companies.

However, I had another job one time that I hated. Absolutely hated it. I would go in my office, shut the door and cry. One day I couldn't take it anymore and I went to my boss and told him I quit. I handed him my hardhat, badge and respirator and told him to come get me when he had my check.

I've never regretted burning that bridge.

ya the place that i am at now kinda "screwed me over"
when I started 6 months ago....oh ya thats another thing
I have only been there for 6 months....and where i am going
i will be making more than 5.00/hr ...
The way they screwed me over was that when I began I asked that I waited a week so that I can fullfill a trip to WDW ...this trip was special though and i really wanted to go cause it included my neices......my significant other's neice and nephew....all their 1st time at WDW>.....They said no and i missed the trip...I was so heartbroken over this that it kinda made me despise the company
hence why i started looking after such a short period....

im thinkin of doin it cause i havent even been there that long and for the other reason mentioned....

Having just ended a job in which I too was "screwed over," I say go for it. Unless there is the remotest possibility you'll want to return or may have to use them as a reference, what do you care? Because my former employer is a big shot, I had no choice but to give two weeks notice - but boy, do I wish I could have just walked out the door.

rofl .......not less than min wage ....I meant 5.00 more an hor
than where i am now....sorry hehehe

The new place is even letting me go on trip in december...
I finally got my break in life....for now at least....just need to get my butt back to school

I quit with no notice once because my boss was one of the nastiest people alive. I didn't even tell him I was quitting, just got my paycheck on Friday, left a note on his desk and left. Of course, I went straight to the bank and cashed the check just in case.

He, in turn, tried to get even with me. When I was buying my house a couple of years later, the mortgage company called him for payroll records and he refused to take or return their calls. Luckily, I was on good terms with one of the other people there and she gave the mortgage company the info for me.

I wasn't the only one to up and quit on him though...seemed to be quite a trend.
