anyone ever have 2 reservations

Yes, I have done this before. I don't think they like for you to do this but I have done it before. I did choose within a day or two and then cancel the one I didn't want.

I've heard of this, but it seems like there was a post a while back, where someone was holding 2 reservations, and Disney automatically canceled one (and that ended up being the one they ultimately wanted...)

Yes - just did it this month. Had 2 rooms on 'hold' at the BC, then we found availability at the BCV. The only problem we encountered was with Magical Express. We had a flight change and I called to update the flight info. They told me our ressie was CANCELED. Somehow they were looking at the 2 rooms we canceled, and got the ressie numbers mixed up. It was not fun on the phone with them, but we are set now.

I am currently doing it for reasons I don't want to get flamed for.............. so I'll keep it to myself!! Anyway, I have one at Pop in my husbands name and one at OKW in my name. I was told Disney CAN'T NOT let you do this... but was also told that they can if they want by another source, so I don't know the real answer, just know we're doing it and intend to keep both rooms at both resorts at the same time...we're paying for them, so that's our perogative, IMO. I just used the two different names to prevent confusion when looking up info, etc. Also figured the "don't ask - don't tell" is the best way to go while doing this.

Disney used to let you have as many reservations as you wanted. But that's changed recently. I had one reservation, then called back later to get another one. I wanted the second one. When I called to put my deposit on it, I was told that the second one was cancelled because the system will kick out multiple reservations now. It kept the reservation that I already had a deposit on.

Well , we have three right now, but all for different months,, Sept. (NIGHT OF JOY), OCT.(MNSSHP) and NOV,Birthday trip.....Nothing was said when I made them,,,but when I called back last night to add a room on for our Sept. trip,,I was asked if I KNEW I had 3 reservations (LOL) and did I plan on keeping all of them...have made reservations for different months all the time,,never been asked that before....

Same here. It sounds like some have reservations at multiple places on the same dates?

Yes - we have two reservations concurrent with eachother (same week) at two different resorts. I have one in my name and one in DH's name... really hope it doesn't cause problems because it would be a very bad way to start our vacation with finding out one was cancelled or something like that. I don't want to sound defensive just because it's what we're doing/trying to do, but could someone explain WHY Disney would not want people doing that? If our family wants to split up during the trip and have some in one resort and some in another (that's not what we're doing by the way, but for arguments sake...) why couldn't we do that if we're shelling out the money?? Seems like a silly policy if they wouldn't!

Disney doesn't mind if you actually use both reservations but they do mind people blocking off rooms that they have no intention of using. There are quite a few of people who book two rooms, one they can afford at regular rates and one they can only afford at a discounted rate. One of the reservations is canceled close to the last minute (these are always room-only reservations) and Disney is left with a vacancy that they are unlikely to fill. You are unfortunately being caught by a system designed to stop this abuse.
