Anyone ever hand a princess a note...

So the day before we leave for Disney we are having my DD's 6th Birthday party where "Elsa" will be the special surprise guest and give her the magic bands and invite her to come visit her and the other princesses at Disney.

We've secured a meet and greet with A&E the following Sunday. Would it be out of line if I handed her a note when we got in there for the meet and greet saying something to the effect of "You were at her birthday party last week" to kind of keep up appearances so to speak. Or am I way over thinking this...lol

I would ask the cm at the beginning of the line. They would be able to tell you if it is alright.

In my experience the handlers are pretty good at steering the kids one way and parents another. I certainly didn't get to the princesses before DDs reached them. You might do better to stop and pass a note to one of the 2 CMs you will see when entering the attraction (one at the FP scanner and one at the final entrance before you are escorted in). Otherwise, think of a clever way to interrupt the conversation aloud. Like, "Elsa, it was so nice to see you last week. Thanks again for coming to DDs party. . . " Also, you will get to Anna first, and then Elsa (unless this changes). You could sneak over to Elsa's handler (or the CM who is manning the queue in the room) while DD is distracted with Anna.

tell the CM once you get into the room - he/she should be able to whisper the info to Elsa before your family meets her.

Also think up something casual you can say to Elsa - On our first trip we met Ariel in her grotto (as a mermaid) early in the morning and then saw her again (that same day) at lunch in Norway. I don't remember exactly what I said but Ariel picked right up on it -she asked DD if she has 'swum really fast' to get over there to see her again. It was amazing. The princesses are quick to pick up on information you give them - that said I think a note would be awkward.

They are totally able to "pick up" on cues, if you feed them lines. Your daughter might even be the one to bring it up! Remember that these "friends" are trained in how to handle tricky things like that, and sending a note might be even more awkward as pp said. I would let it flow organically, and you will be surprised at what happens. If not, carefully try and steer the conversations that way - these characters are HOT and "probably" at everyone's birthday currently! :)

BTW, the CMs have an answer for everything. When I was much younger, and CRT was still called King Stephan's, I asked our waitress why the castle was Cinderella's, but the dining room was King Stephan's. Answer: It was her castle, but she let the King borrow the dining room. I also asked where was Cinderella. Answer: She was helping to cook in the kitchen. Yeah, I was THAT kid. :)

This - jump in right away after the initial pleasantries and tell her how good it is to see her again and how much you were loving the magic bands she gave etc... It's very easy to do...

A smart kid will be able to see you are feeding clues. Instead, do it by asking questions:

"Where were you on the night of August 20?"
"I was building a snowman with..."
"LIAR! You were at this little girl's birthday party and you know it!"

Now that is a M&G your daughter will never forget.

We feed clues. There was a day during our last trip where my son wanted to meet Lady Tremaine. He asked where Cinderella's stepsisters were and she told him they were practicing their music lessons.

The next day we went back and both stepsisters were back with Lady Tremaine. "We visited you yesterday but Anastasia and Drizella weren't here, so we've come back to visit today."

"Of course, I remember. They were at their music lessons. I'm glad you came back. Are you married? Do you have a lot of money?" She didn't skip a beat.

I met Anna and Elsa a couple of weeks ago, and Elsa was first. Don't know how often they change that round, but Elsa was definitely first for me.

Since "Elsa" won't be the "same" as she was at the party, maybe this IS over-thinking a bit.

That's what I was thinking. Won't a 6 year old realize its not the same Elsa?

Maybe just take advice from PPs and lead the conversation. Have fun with it! I bet your daughter will see its not the same one. Maybe she will play along.

Personally, I would do nothing. If your DD happens to mention something to Elsa about being at her birthday party, Elsa will quickly pick up on it and play along. They're trained to do things like that and usually very quick on their feet. Just see if your DD brings it up. If not, they'll have a nice visit with no party talk.

You can achieve the same effect without any notes..the characters catch on to things very quickly...when you meet Elsa with your daughter all you need to do is say something like "oh thank you so much Elsa for coming to my daughters 6th birthday party last week to give her a magic band" or " look Elsa my daughter is wearing the magic band you gave her last week at her birthday party" and trust me Elsa will follow the cue and interact as if she was at the party. One time I video taped Aerial saying "hi" to my niece and as I was taping I said something like can you say "hi to my niece" she met you this summer when she was here" and Aerial talked to her on tape saying "hi" and that she remembered her, etc...

Totally. When we took my daughter the first time, the only princess we met was Snow White. We went back ten months later and I told my daughter as we were meeting snow "remember when we met Snow White last trip?" SW took it from there, never missing a beat.
