I know there is a number to call for tickets, but I just wondered how hopeless it really is before I make long distance calls for days. My sister will be 60 this year and she has mentioned it a couple of times. She is the type that goes and gets anything she wants, so it is hard to find something special. I was thinking it would be neat to have tickets to Oprah wrapped for her.

I know nothing about getting them but I do know Marie, her mom and two other ladies did go to the show, though quite a few years ago. I do not know how to get them or how difficult.

I got tickets and went a few years ago. It was quite easy to get them. I called (not right after the show aired-that's their busiest time) and they informed me what days were available at that time. I picked one and reserved 2 tickets. Unfortunately, they called me back a few weeks later ( I believe I reserved these tickets about 4-6 weeks in advance) to say that they would have to change my date (saying that they weren't shooting that day. I still believe to this day that it was the "Oprah's favorite things" day and they had other people that they wanted in the audience). Anyway, I re-scheduled. That was a pain because I was flying in from NJ and had cheap airline tickets. Once I changed the flights, the tx were not so cheap anymore. But we did eventually go (it was in the winter time-around February or so). Flew into Chicago in the morning, did the 2nd taping (had to be there around 10 or 11 am) and I believe we were done by around 2ish. Had lunch and flew back home that evening. It was a very nice experience, just be ready for your date to be changed around if necessary. The number is on the website. Good Luck.

What was the topic of the show you saw? Also, how was the weather in Chicago at that time and how far from the airport did you have to go? I am assuming you got a cab. Just wondered how much it was?

I also went a few years ago (OK I was in college so it was ALOT of years ago...like 1994) I was goin gthrough a bad time in college and my mom surprised me...she just called like the above poster and we got tickets for a show a few weeks later....we just drove down from Milwaukee. The topic "Is your teen keeping secrets from you?" Very appropriate for the time...mom and I had nice LOOOOONG talk after the show

My best friend and I have always wanted to do this and it's my goal to try and get us tickets. I checked Oprah's website a couple weeks ago and they were showing any tickets available yet. Guess I need to go check again. If you get tickets, please update. I would be very curious how it works.

BC, the show was about "It's A Miracle" stuff (from the PAX show). Also, the weather wasn't too bad (when our tx got bumped to February, I thought "Oh No! February in Chicago-Snowstorm!") But it was probably around 50 degrees ( I remember wearing a coat, but no hat or gloves). We were trying to be very frugal that day (remember the airline tx prices) so we actually took a train from the airport to a bus that let us off about a block from HARPO Studios. The first show shoots around 7 or 8 am. We got to the studios around 8:30am, ate breakfast at a small deli near the studios, and then were one of the first in line for the 2nd shooting of the day. Once inside, you go thru security, then they direct everyone to a sort of "holding" room. We sat there for around 45 minutes, then they ushered us into the studio soundstage. (Just a side note- when we first came into the building, they asked us our names. When I told them, the person taking names said that my named sounded familiar. I told her that it was probably because they called me to cancel my tx and i of course proceeded to tell her about having to change our airline tx etc... Anyway, once we got out of the holding area and they were about to place us into the studio audience, this same lady made sure that we had good seats-we were second from the front and on the aisle where Oprah comes in. So, DH got to shake her hand as she came out. I just thought that it was nice of that lady to do that.) The actual shooting only took about 1 1/2 hours. Then we were out the door! Hope this helps.
