Anyone ever go to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party?

We are going for the first time to WDW for the holidays and we are so excited. Has anyone done the MVMCP? I am going to buy the tickets for it and wanted to make sure it's worth it. I was thinking going to the MK all day and then going back at night might be too much for my 5 year old so we were hoping to just go to this at night and then back to MK in the morning for the rest of what we missed (we only have 5 days there this time). Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!

:confused3

The party is great. DD & I have been going since 2003, and we are going to two parties this year. It's very festive, a nice parade and fireworks, as well as some special holiday shows! Gets you in the holiday mood, which is great - living in FL - sometimes it's hard to remember it's DECEMBER! They even make it "snow" on Main Street!

We did it last year and it was great! They give free hot chocolate and cookies at designated areas, and a free photo of you and your family. We took out DD 4 and DS 16 months at the time, and I think their favorite thing was the dance party that was in Fanasty Land by Dumbo. Chip, Dale and Pluto came out and danced with kids- they went crazy!! Also be sure to check out the Osbourne Family lights in MGM, it snows there too, my kids were in awe! Have a wonderful time :)

Most likely this year there will be no free photo - the MNSSHP deal was 50% off 5x7 photos taken by the Photopass photographers. I would expect this to be no different for MVMCP.

EPCOT as well as all the high end resorts are worth a visit also. :santa:
We went to the party last year and had fun, but I don't know if we'll go again.

For those with little ones, how long did you stay at the parks? My 7 and 9-year-old normally go to bed around 8:30/9 or 10 p.m. at the latest for special occasions, okay 10:30. But we don't usually let them stay up until midnight. Is it still worth it? Can we still get in shows, activities, rides, etc?

Thats what I am wondering too. Are there lots of attractions open or is it selected attractions? Im sure my 5 year old will have no problem staying awake if it's to party at WDW. LOL! :rotfl:

We love MVMCP!
DFIL will be with us for his 1st VeryMerry & we can't wait!
We have ADRs for CP & from there, right to the party.
When DS was 7 we went to the parks for early opening & left by 11 am, had a big lunch, went swimming & he took a loooong nap, then we headed out to MVMCP for the opening & DS was able to stay awake (& jolly!) to close the parks :sunny:
Toward the end of the night, the photo ops, the rides, --even Pooh-- were a walk on last year. I will add here we always go during 'low' season & this year will be the 1st year we've gone to an opening night MVMCP. Usually the DISboard wisdom is to avoid the 1st few parties & the Fri-Sat ones & the ones hard by Christmas, if you like lighter crowds--of course, some of us thrive in the heavier holiday crowds~

Our confirmation letter for this year, says 'free' photo for MVMCP. Of course, things can change

there are several good threads for MVMCP tips, here's one:

That's early in the month and a week night it should be pretty nice!

How long are the shows? That way we can make a schedule of what to watch on what time.

we went to the VMCP in December '04 and had a great time!! The parade is great, there were lots of beautiful decorations and the corwd is much smaller than during the day, so it's a great time to catch a few extra rides on the "Mountains" or my DS' favorite ride, Buzz Lightyear!!

:wizard:

btw, if you foloow the link below, you can see our pics form that year

We went last year with DS. He was 2.5 at the time. The day of the party, we just took it easy and hung out at the resort. We had an early dinner PS at LTT before the party and then hit the party. We were able to catch a lot of things. DS ended up falling asleep DURING the fireworks!

We'll see ya there :thumbsup2 We are going that night too. I hope they still have the free photo :teeth: That would be a reall bummer if they did away with it.

We really enjoyed the party. What we did that worked out great was to make an ADR for LTT about 5:45. We finished dinner about 15 minutes before the party started and were allowed to stay in that area instead of being sent to the park area where day guest attending the party wait. We were first in line for our photo at the president's hall. The parade was great as well as the shows. We only did one ride as we spend our time on the shows. We were surprised at how crowded it was but it was not a problem for us. Characters were everywhere!! We also love the candle light procession at Ecpot. DEcember is a great time to visit.
