Anyone ever given a token gift of thanks

to someone at the hotel for going out of their way to make your stay more special - like a nice box of truffles or something? Nice appreciation or corny?

I think I'll bring with me a couple of truffle packages and thank you cards, so I'll have them on hand.

We do this ALL the time. We have many friends now at the hotels and restaurants and we always look forward to seeing them and bringing them something to show how much we appreciate them.

as a hotel employee, in my opinion, the best thing you can do is personally talk to a manager of that specific department and express your feelings to them about the great service you have received. It makes all the difference. Also in the surveys that they send out to your email address after you stay at one of the properties, if you mention an employee by name and say something (even if it's brief) about how they helped you out with something or were just extra friendly, the managers always love to see that and it makes the person who was mentioned feel extra special. It's rare that anyone does that, so when it happens it's the best feeling in the world. better than truffles

Unfortunately, we had an emergency with one of our cats the day before we left, and I wasn't able to go to the store and get what I had intended to get after all. I did fill out the survey, though, and mentioned someone by name. I'm also going to write a thank you letter and send it down with a small box of truffles. The woman I am so grateful to is Lydia, PBH's assistant to the manager. Don't know if any of you know her, but she was very kind to us and I want to make sure she knows how much we appreciate it.

I always fill surveys in from resorts, and give names of people who have been extremely helpful, and like you say, it brings the managers attention to these workers.
