Wondering if it would be way too short a time. Has anyone ever flown down say for MNSSHP for a long weekend? Being a teacher it would be hard for me to take extra time off, but would love to go down in Oct. , Nov., or Dec., for a long weekend! I'm sure I would have to book 11 months out also!

DH and I do. We get the super cheap flights $49 RT from our regional airport. We love those short jaunts! DVC covers room, AP covers parks, you have to eat even if you stay home so $100 for a trip works for us! We are going to the MNSSHP for the first time in Oct but staying 5 days but I would gladly go for 2 or 3 if that is all we could squeeze in!

Hi,
I flew down to WDW the year they gave the free birthday pass. My best friend and I have birthdays one day apart so it was just us on a long weekend trip. Two moms no kids- it was so much fun! We treated ourselves to nice dinners out, enjoyed the parks, and had a blast.

I have never done that with the family so I can't comment on that.

I hope you make it there!

A couple of years ago, I flew down on a Friday afternoon (took a half day off work.) Made it to BWV by 5 and walked over to Epcot and had a 7PM ADR to celebrate my birthday at Les Chefs de France. Spent 2 days exploring at the Food & Wine Festival and attending various seminars. Had a super early flight on Monday AM and made it to work about an hour late (which was planned.)

Now I wouldn't do this all the time, but it was great fun, and I'd definitely do it again for a solo visit to F & W Festival, so long as I could get reasonable airfare.

I teach also, and DH and I did a short weekend last October for the Food & Wine festivities. We left on a Friday and came back on Sunday. It was awesome and we would do it again.

I have also done it with the kids as well. Matter of fact, I am reserved for Christmas time for a long weekend.

Anytime you can get it is great! :thumbsup2

Yes, we have. We went down for a Saturday and Sunday night stay last year at SSR. We really enjoyed the get away!

In 2 weeks we have another 2 nighter, but we'll be visiting our DGC on the west coast of Florida. They want to show us the wonderful things they've found since their recent move to Florida.

DH and I are heading down in September for a Friday through Monday stay. So excited! We have AP's and were able to get a good deal on flights, so we thought why not. We have our must dos at a couple of parks and two great ADR's and plan on relaxing at OKW for a lot of the time. I think it only makes sense to do a short trip like this if you have an AP, otherwise the cost of tickets for such a short stay is so high. We bought our DVC for every other year vacations, but since it was a loaded contract, this will be our third trip this year. We will most likely never own an AP again until the kids are grown and it is the two of us.

We don't fly but we've driven down from Hilton Head several times for 2-nighters. It's just enough time to get my fix between the longer trips. We have APs and just hit the things we like most and have 2 nice meals. We're going again in 30 days and have reservations at the Bistro de Paris (1st time) and Narcoossee's.

I have driven down with my daughter for a 1 nighter going 9.5 hrs each way . It was fun And would do it again given the chance .

My sister and I do quite a bit and did even more often when air fare out of Indy with ATA was a whole lot cheaper. we do 4 days 3 nites so we can get the free dining. is fun but if we go 4 days or 14 we never want to come home:sad1: but gives us our --fix-- to wait for the longer trip.. 43 more days for that one now:cheer2: they have great free dining deal going that started 8/3/2011 right now. see mousesavers or allears.com for info:thumbsup2

Thanks! I will have to plan for a short trip in the Fall or Winter of 2012! :thumbsup2

If waiting until then wait until after March as deal already out for to then. be around this time next year for late fall ones to come out. just sign up for the allears.com and mousesavers.com letters and you will be sent this stuff...is free and NO junk mail from them is the best part. :yay:

Yes. I am also a teacher so in order for me to visit in the fall, the most I can do it is a two or three night stay.

My DH and I are hoping to go for F & W in Oct 2012. It will be worth every penny!

Yes! My husband and I try to do this at least every other year on or near our anniversary.

I used to live on the west coast and my wife worked for a regional airline. We would use the free flights with the airline, fly down to Orange County or LAX and go to Disneyland for the day and fly back home the same night.

Disneyland for lunch. Anytime! :thumbsup2

DD and I have done long weekend trips 4 or 5 years in early December. Just a few days to get our Disney fix--relax, see the Christmas decorations, a few nice dinners and a little time in the parks. Usually stayed at WL.

Last year we missed going because she had a baby in July and thought DGD was too young for the "girls" trip.

This year will be a longer trip with the whole family and DGD's first trip to WDW.

I hope to start back with our annual short trips with both my girls in Dec '12---I just closed on our contract at VWL.

My wife is a teacher and we have done both veterns weekend and MLK weekend. She usually does use a personal day one day to create a 4 day weekend, but it is still a great getaway and worth the trip!
