Anyone Ever Fly To Disney For A 2-3 Nighter?

I was actually going through a "thing" last year and asked hubby if I could just have this one chance to do Disney for me.. and nobody else. Did it on cash at the CBR.. just 2 nights (honestly should've done 3)... but it was wonderful!!! :thumbsup2 It was during FWF and I never really had need to eat in a sitdown...
I think for us women who have planned Disney trips to accomodate everyone in our family... this once in a lifetime request is well justified (assuming it works financially)... I say go for it!!

DH and I do. We get the super cheap flights $49 RT from our regional airport. We love those short jaunts! DVC covers room, AP covers parks, you have to eat even if you stay home so $100 for a trip works for us! We are going to the MNSSHP for the first time in Oct but staying 5 days but I would gladly go for 2 or 3 if that is all we could squeeze in!
What regional airport? Please share!lo

Boy do I agree with natt!!! I'm the vacation planner for our household also and this past January I also had the opportunity to "go alone"......and it was fantastic. Actually, I wasn't totally alone since our youngest son was there for the spring semester working on the Disney College Program, so, he did stay with me at SSR on his two days off, but, the other two days I was on my own and had a blast.......going to whichever park I wanted...when I wanted. It was heaven......my best day was the afternoon I spent at AK.....I carried the book I was reading in my backpack....and found an out of the way table in back of the Dawa Bar and had a wonderful, relaxing two hours with two Safari Amber beers and my book.....felt like I truly was a tourist in an African village!!! Can't wait to do it again sometime.....unfortunately can't make it January, 2012......DH and I are heading down in October for five days to the F & W Festival and we have a family vacation planned for 2012 so need our points for that.

I see your location as Fort Wright. What regional airport do you fly out of? Dayton? I know I've never seen $49 flights out of CVG! Where do you get $49 flights? I'd be all over that!! :woohoo:We fly out of SDF, CVG and LEX.

We are for the first time this year. I wouldn't normally plan that short of a trip but DH really wanted to go for a big birthday he is having this year and when he showed me a good deal on airfare I gave in! :yay:

I teach also but sometimes you just need to get away outside of the usual vacation schedule. My DH, 2DD & I usually go in late April or mid-May for a 3 niter. I'll take a random Monday off so we leave after work on Friday, get in WDW for a nice walk and dessert somewhere, have 2 full days at the resort and/or parks, then do some wandering around Epcot Monday before heading back to MCO. Having an AP and some extra points makes it more reasonable. I teach also and come from the NE so by April or May, we are desperate for some sun and heat! This is a wonderful time in WDW, not too crowded or hot. It recharges your battery for the remainder of the school year, too!

We do that frequently. We like to get to our happy place at various times during the year, but with limited vacation time and DVC points we spread it around.

Since we've visited so many times, its not like we need to see/do everything during the trip so we just take the parks as they come. The most we seem to do on those trips is to plan one nice dinner - the rest just depends on how we feel that day.

Hi! Did it last year in Dec. to see Christmas parade and decorations. Am doing it again this Oct. to see Halloween parade. I'm a teacher also and it's great fun!:cheer2:

We have done a few 2 and 3 day trips. We have found that they are sometimes the most rewarding and fun. Weplan the trip around a specific event ie, Mickey's Very Merry or a family members birthday. Select a few must see's because we know we will be back again for a longer vacation. There was a wonderful article in All Ears they past week on 3 day trip to the worlds... worth the read.

Thanks all! Lots of great ideas! Now, should I go in October or Dec...or maybe even in April or May...Time to start planning :thumbsup2

I always felt it would be a long flight for just a couple of nights. But with everybody running short on vacation days, we were planning a 3-nighter next Spring Break (the kids have a whole week but the parents may not :sad1:). Everybody is so excited during the planning stage, now, we are extending it to 4 nights.

Oct, Dec, Apr, May, all good choices. You'd do different things in different months.

Yes. Often when I can get a good fare. I live in northwestern NJ, so I have lots of flight options just using convenient airports like Lehigh Valley-ABE (Allentown, PA) and Newark - EWR. Most of my trips are 4 nights or less.

Just booked a 2-nighter flying down on Continental for a couple of F&W events in October.

I also have an Annual Pass which is the great enabler. ;-)

Yes, we have done this. I have also told my DH that I don't need a new car as the monthly payment could be airfare to Disney. However, I want to tell you about what my crazy DH did a few years ago (I can't seem to get him to be this spontaneous again). Labor day weekend. He called my boss at noon on a Friday and asked her if I could leave. He called me and told me to call DVC and try to get a room for Fri-Sat-Sun. He then picked me up from work and DROVE 14 hours to WDW. I guess that is :lovestruc love for you. We had 2 kids under 3 with us also. We arrived in the wee hours of Saturday morning, used our AP's Sat, Sun, and for early entry on Monday, then headed home. It was exhausting but is probably my most remember trip.
