Anyone ever flown Lufthansa to Europe?

My TA or Insight Vacations changed my air flight plans to London without letting me know. They've now placed us on a flight from PHL to Frankfurt, change planes (I think), then flight to Heathrow. Just wondering how the service is on that airline. Having never flown overseas before, I'm not sure what to expect - hoping we can sleep on the plane!!!

It was many, many years ago (20!), but I flew Lufthansa from Los Angeles to Frankfurt to Nairobi and back. It was a fabulous airline...efficient, polite employees, right on schedule; those I know who have flown it since have always said the same thing. And even then, they had extremely good security for the times; I would imagine they are still one of the best in that regard.

I have never flown Lufthansa but the mear fact of traveling past London, changing planes in Germany just to fly back to London again. Your agent says that's cheaper than British Airways direct flight from PHL to LHR???!! Doesn't make sense to me. I guess that's why I book everything myself, seperately. I would make a serious inquiry about the change your TA made! If possible I'd request the BA's 777...it's a dream and their service is the best around. Good luck!

My mother flew them last year. She seemed impressed. Said the food was good and the booze was free.

Thanks everybody!! I'm OK w/Lufthansa - I just wish the times were better.

LuckyMom - I booked this trip through an independent tour group with $99 companion fare - so I don't have much choice about changing the times. This new change is adding about 2.5 hours to our total trip and even though the flight times are TOTALLY not ideal, the BA flights (for 2) cost more than half our total trip cost which includes a week's stay at a central London Hotel, sightseeing trip, Tube passes and breakfast every morning.

Since this was my first time with this tour company and this particular TA to Europe, I'll know next time not to use either one.

DH and I flew Lufthansa 10 years ago to Germany. What an amazing airline. They regard their quality to the highest standards! The flight was smooth, the food was good, the flight attendants were really nice and the plane was immaculate! You will have an awesome flight!
