Were thinking of flying down to Gatwick from Newcastle with Flybe rather then get the train this time - has anyone flown with them, and if so whats the luggage allowance like? 20kgs each if I prebook?

We are flying from Aberdeen to Gatwick with Flybe. Thankfully as we have booked the entire trip through Virgin, Flybe will honour Virgin's baggage allowance.
I still have not figured out how to get a reference to check-in on line with Flybe :confused3

It is 20 kg. Last year on our way home from orlando we flew back to scotland with them and our luggage was over 20 kg and we had an extra bag but we never got charged.

I've flown with them a few times and my DH flies with them regularly for work. On the whole we have never had any real problems. One time DH flight was cancelled overnight due to technical issues but he was put up in a hotel and given food vouchers and he felt they were well looked after.

I know some people call them Fly Maybe but we have never had bad experiences.

Thanks! For some reason you cant book Newcastle to LGW-LGW-Orlando with Flybe/Virgin :confused3 you have to go to Teeside but that isnt close to me.

I think I will go with Flybe then I cant see our luggage being over 20kg each :thumbsup2

Dh uses Flybe regularly from Newcastle to London and Bristol on business trips and he's never reported any problems. Obviously he's never had a large amount of luggage but by the sounds of it, they should be ok. :goodvibes

I just spent time checking the same thing but then realised I would have to pay another £15 to check bags in aswell (each). Also my flight leaves Gatwick early so would have had to fly night before.

After working it all out it worked out cheaper to drive the day before leave car for 15 days on return pay for two nights (I land at 7am) so can stay and get a good nights sleep and drive back the next day.

We don't want to drive all the way down to London - takes far too long!

I thought exactly the same but i decided we could take our time as the figures just made sense, i would prefer the spending money.

Flights to and from were £270, extra for baggage 45, hotel for the night, 55 taxi from hartlepool to newcastle and back 60. Total: £430

Hotel and car parking at gatwick £55, two nights on return £80 diesel £80. Total £215

thats for the 3 of us so for the additional £215 i can get seaworld and busch garden tickets.

Fortunetly mine is not too bad as there is only 2 of us £180 flights (although still hunting to get them a bit cheaper!) including luggage, and we live on the metro line so it will only cost us a couple of £'s to get to the airport.

Plus I dont trust my fiance driving after a 9 hour flight haha!
