I don't mean you met as a result of the DIS--or you joined the DIS because someone you know led you there--

I mean... have you ever been cruisin the DIS and read a post and eventually discovered that it came from someone you actually KNEW??

With so many people on here, there are bound to be people who know each other and aren't aware you are both DISing.

Let's hear some stories--I've always been curious

We just got back from our Anniversary trip at WDW and Universal. Someone who works in the countries in Epcot and I were talking and she realized she had read a bunch of my posts! How cool that was!

Not that I know of! I have met lots of nice folks here though, that I now consider friends!

Too funny! Just yesterday I almost posted something about a cousin...but decided not to because I wondered if there was any chance that she uses the DIS and would recognize the story!
LOL
You read my mind.....:smooth:

I didn't really KNOW the person but I knew OF the person. I got a PM one time and it ended up being, after talking a bit back and forth, a dad of a child that is in my daughter's school and I knew of his wife.

Another time got to chatting with someone that said they were from my same town in the profile so I pm'd her and it ended up being someone I didn't know but I knew of her husband.

Small small world.

I don't actually know this person but I posted a lay out from my kids school on the scrap forum and then got a PM asking if the school was located in Media. Ended up her kids went there. We haven't met but she helped us with our fund raiser and gave gift cert. from their resturant. I've stopped in the resturant but still haven't met her! So I thought that was neat...but then it also made me realize sometimes scrap pages can give lots of info! on web sites!

No, and I hope I never do. When I meet someone doing Disney planning I'm often tempted to send them here, but for some reason I don't. I think I like the fact that no one knows me here (at least, I think no one does!). It's not that I'm different here, it's just nice to have a little anonymity sometimes.

I try not to post where I live or the High school that I went to (although I do always check to see if anyone's from my area!). I'm not really sure why.

Yep!!
It really is a small world after all...right SueZ?????

and it was too cool. I was reading this post over on the scrapping board and got to thinking about what the person was saying - they said they were excited this new store opened in Worcester and it was similar to the excitement that they had while they were growing up and during high school the mall opened up in the adjoining town. I am definately paraphrasing here but it gave me enough of a clue that we may be from the same home town now and may have grown up in the same different town that I PM'd the woman and after a reveal of our names it turns out we actually were very close friends in 4th grade, but I had switched schools so we had fallen out of touch after that. The irony of it is that we grew up in the same home town which is small so we know a lot of the same people from there even after we fell out of touch and now we live in a completely different town across the state and are very near to each other.

I also just ran into another woman who lives not two miles from me who has similar friends but we weren't familiar with each other but now we are. She and I have a lot in common.

It is definately one small world here on the DIS.

Hey Castlegazer!!! Too funny, I just saw the title of this post and was going to post about you too!!

I'm Castlegazer's 4th grade friend! I knew Castlegazer when we were kids....in the 70's in polyester!

Well not really know them but..

I was getting paint at Home Depot one day, and a woman in front of me grabbed all the lime green Disney paint swatches.

I am guessing it was a DIS folk

My sister is a member here, so I know her. Other than that, I don't know anyone. Maybe someone knows me and just hasn't said anything yet, like if they recognize me from my photos and see me walk my dog all the time. Something like that.

Sorry :p

Was the dog being obnoxious and wearing a red collar? Yep, that was me! Next time, say hello, monkeyboy! :teeth:

Well my leg will never be the same

Well, she's not THAT obnoxious, monkeyboy!! (Unless you are referring to the tongue bath she gave you. ;) ) I do have one arm longer than the other from her pulling me around, though.

I was at a B-day party for my DD's friends, and was talking to one of the other parents. The conversation turned to WDW (I had a trip upcoming; she had just gotten back), and she mentioned the DIS. To make a long story short, she and I figured out that we had posted on each other's threads before. Not only that, she lives in the same subdivision as I do!
