Anyone ever feel depressed after returning....

from Disney. I tell you it's the strangest thing. We just went for 10 days in August. We had a wonderful time! We won't be able to return in 05 and I'm feeling pretty bummed out about it. We just don't have the cash. Anyone ever feel this way. This is very unusual for me. I'm not a "depressing" kind of person normally. I know... you're going to say, "please.... grow up!".

Thanks for listening.

Every single time! It starts the day before we leave, planning another trip is a good distraction, but tends to comsume all my thoughts at times.

Your not alone!

Every time. We only can afford 1 trip per year to year and 1/2. It's very depressing. I does consume my life sometimes.....

Oh my, YES! Coming home from Disney is depressing. I have found (in all seriousness) that coming to these boards helps.

Post a trip report and remember your trip and share it with others!

Answer others questions on these boards. When someone comes home they often have knowledge that can benefit others......what is new at Disney, how the restaurants were, etc.

Lastly, begin planning your next trip. Even if it is a long way off, start making a list of things you didn't get to do at Disney and the things you may want to do again.

Don't be hard on yourself. I have been through it too!

Believe me, you are not alone.

I get bummed everytime we have to come home. We just got back last weekend, and when I was leaving the room, I teared up terrible. I felt like a little kid, not wanting to go home.

If it weren't for missing my puppies so much, it would probably be worse.

Take care and dream of your next vacation to Disney whenever it will be. Planning and these boards make you feel so much better. :D

It's comforting to hear that you all have felt this as well.
It's hard to complain, because some people aren't fortunate enough to ever go, but it's still there. Once you've been, you know what you are missing. I'm going to try to do some planning in advance. I started to post trip reports, but found that it was perpetuating the feeling. and to be honest I was a daily visitor/contibutor until about a week after we returned home. The private message from Webmaster Alex about the board upgrades is what brought me back.... I'll take your advice and see how it goes.

Thanks again everyone.

Craig

Personally I don't think I would feel as if my trip were great if I did not come home depressed.

Depression is a good sign!!!!

That's a good way of looking at it.

I get PDD everytime I get home for a few days... my doctor said he can't help just to tuff it out, no pills.. no nothing...

I totally agree. Depression after the trip is a sign that the trip was great. I just went in January. My BF and I agreed we would save up and not go back until our honeymoon (in like 2 years!) Finally last month, I couldn't take it anymore, I had to go back. We're now going in 33 days and I feel like I am bubbling over with excitement. But then at the same time I know I will be really bummed out when I get home. Each time I feel sad though, I just think about how excited I will be when I finally return! It is always good to think to the future and it helps get you by. You'll make it through!

I'm really excited about our upcoming trip, but in a way, I'm almost dreading it because when I come back, I can't look forward to it anymore! I feel silly feeling this way (and haven't confessed to anyone else), but it makes such a difference knowing the trip is coming. When stress happens (and I have a somewhat stressful job), I can just smile and think, "It's OK. I'll be at WDW soon."

So I know how you feel!

It starts with me about the last two days of the trip. I start feeling sad and I have a hard time snapping out of it and enjoying the last couple of days. Well my next trip is in 30 days and I am vowing to myself to enjoy every moment . I will wait to feel sad until I get home. I never let my kids know I am sad at Disney it seems so silly thinking about it....I mean being sad while you are actually there. MY kids get very sad every time we leave, usually with tears and begging for just one more day. This time we are going to talk up the fun and remind them how lucky we are to go to Disney so often.

Yes Yes Yes
a day after we returned (10/11) I booked a mother/son trip for next Aug
but that's another 9.5months away!
Im ready to go back now

how do we inexpensively (since we're saving for our next trips) pass the time?

Each trip as I exit the plane in Orlando and I see all the people lined up for departure I always think to myself "Wow, I am so happy to be starting my vacation" and I feel so badly for the people heading back to reality. Then a week or so later I am one of the "unfortunate" ones to be heading home...

Now I make sure I have something to look forward to after every trip - even if it is 2 years out. Right now I am wondering where I want to go for our 2005/2006 trip. I'll start researching destinations and then I will put the dates together etc... Keeps me busy between trips!

My co-worker just got back from 1 week at Disney and Universal and she says she has no plans to return - once was enough. She likes going to the beach instead  On the other hand she was lost after she got married - she put her heart and soul into planning the wedding and didn't know what to do when it was all over.

Oh well, different strokes for different folks. Some of us are travelers and some of us aren't!

I suppose a good way to snap out of it, would be to put various packages together with different pricing. Once I have those, then we can have a target of what we are saving for.

This past trip was considered a "Disney Bender" for us. We stayed at the contemporary for 10 days and had PS's each day or everyother day. We knew it was going to be the last time we could do that for some time. We are a single income family and we paid for the trip with cash.

We'll probably go to a value resort during off-season next time. I'm spoiled I've always stayed on the Monorail. Real life has set in, but I'll gladly take the buses to and from my hotel to go back. I just can't take not going to Disney. I'm almost obsessively addicted. It's scary.

I think I'm going to watch the video this weekend......

Hey, Craig :wave2:

I understand your feeling and I think it is especially difficult when used to monorial resorts. I've found that now when I go "in between" monorail resort visits and stay at a value, it gets me through to the next GF or Poly visit. You'll have to psych yourself up for a different experience at a value but the savings will mean you can fit in a long weekend before your next longer trip.

I was at GF in September for a very short visit and am returning unexpectedly in December for Mousefest and MVMCP - this time putting it on a cc...which means I should stay at the POP but have not been able to snag an email code there yet - so it's POFQ. If an in between visit is needed a value resort makes it possible:)

I just got home this past Tuesday. Still feeling a little down (probably just exhausted).

I find that coming to the DIS and beginning my next trip helps a lot!

I, too, am suffering from post-WDW depression!!! We just got back late Saturday night and had Halloween as a distraction yesterday...but today has been horrible. :(

Sometimes I feel the "let down" after a vacation "high." I think this is normal and quite common. Sending your positive vibrations so you'll feel your old self soon.:goodvibes

Yes, the day before I come home.... Really puts me in a bad mood to know I have to leave. sigh..... You are NOT alone.
