I was just wondering if it would be possible to book your home resort at the 11 month window and be wait listed to another resort - would they allow you to do this or would you have to wait until the 7 month mark to be wait listed? Has anyone on here tried?

YOu have to wait until 7 months to waitlist at a resort that is not your home resort.

You would only be placed on the waitlist if there is no availability when you call. You are not allowed to reserve at non-home resorts using points until 7 months- so calling at 11 months (or 10 - or 9 -or 8 ) won't help unless it's your Home Resort.

You are, however, welcome to call for cash reservations at home or non-home resorts 11 months in advance. You may be told to call back later in a few months), but non-home cash reservations are possible eariler than 7 months. Only point reservtaions are governed by the 11 month priority. (Cash reservations are governed by the historic past for point reservations - and are not always available 11 months in advance for many dates.)

You could book it with a credit card and then on the 7 month window, you can cancel the credit ressie and opt for our points.

Actually, since cash reservations come from a different inventory that point reservations, you can't automatically depend on being able to do this- it would entirely depend on availabilty at 7 months. It's very possible that a casj reservation is available at 11 months, but no points reservations would be open at 7 months.

It's possible , but not a dependable method for success.
