I need some advice, here's the deal. my mother-in-law bought php tickets for us for xmas, i then made ressies for por for oct 7-15, but now i decided i want the dining plan and b/c my ressie is a room-only i can't purchase it. so this is my intention: cancel current ressie and re-book through aaa and purchase one day park tickets for everyone (me, dh, dd10, twin dd7 and in-laws) so we can purchase the dining plan.
Anyone ever do this?

There are many people doing this right now to get the free dining plan. You should have no problems.

the free dining is only until oct 4, i thought, we're going 7-15 but will still purchase the dining...

I could be wrong, but I believe you'd have to purchase MYW tix for the entire length of your stay to also get the dining plan to go with it.

You can always just hold on to your PHP's for a later trip if you want. They should be honored forever.

And you're right: the free dining promo ends 10/4.

I did this...I already had 3 day hopper passes and a room only AAA discounted reservation. Then I got an email for the free dining plan so I cancelled the room only reservation, bought the package with free dining and 1 day base tickets for all of us. The price was about $10 cheaper than purchasing everything separately (based on our food budget) This way I don't have to worry about going over the food budget and I was able to add another day to our park tickets! Can't beat that!

edited to add ~ you CAN purchase 1 day base tickets even if you are staying more than 1 night. The tickets do not have to match the number of nights, but the dining plan does. Also, everyone on the reservation has to have the same package (same # of days on the MYW tickets, same # of nights for the dining, etc)
