Anyone ever do the Segway tour at Epcot?

I just read about this in my Unofficial guide and on AllEars. It sounds like a really cool experience! Has anyone here ever done it? Is it worth the $$? Let me know!

It's soooo worth it we're taking our third tour of it on our next trip down.
Very fun, a little nervewracking initially, but you're in a classroom setting so you learn fast.

A total joy and every bit worth the money. The Segway really epitomizes what Epcot is all about.

Do I have to book through AAA to get the discount or do I just mention it when I call to book?

BTW, do I have to book this tour before I get to Disney or can I book it when I'm there?

but, I think it's going to be in our plans for March (89 days to go, woohoo ). Me, DS (16) and DS's friend (also 16) are headed to WDW for 10 days. My son has been DYING to do the Segway tour and now that he is of "legal" Disney age for the tour, he wants to use his spending $$ for the tour. He still needs to talk to his friend and see if he wants to go too. I think he has me talked into it too. I know in the blink of an eye he'll be on his own so I want to get in as much Disney time as I can . He's also agreed to get get his hair cut at The Main Street Barber Shop in MK (something I've never had done before). He did draw the line and tell me that he REALLY doesn't want any pixie dust in his hair though !!

Just mention you have AAA when you book. You need to present your AAA card @ sign in for the tour. The tours are frequently filled up so book as soon as possible - don't wait until you get there.

Just call 407-WDW-TOUR to book the Segway Around the World tour. This is the 2 hour (one hour class instruction and the second hour tour of the World Showcase). There is a one hour instruction only class (did it - called the Segway Experience) - so you need to be sure you have the 2 hour tour. Just like JerseyJ said, mention AAA when booking the tour. There is an 8:30 AM and a 9:30 AM tour - we did the 8:30 AM tour - no one in the World Showcase to maneuver around (Showcase opened at 11 AM to park guests). We took a cab from the CBR to Epcot - busses weren't guaranteed to be running at that early hour. Just something to think about. Have fun!

We're staying at the Beach Club, so we should be able to walk to WS for the tour, right?

Yes, you could walk to the WS from the Beach Club, however check-in/registration for the Segway Tour is at the other end of the park - visitor's center is located to the left of Spaceship Earth (I guess to the right coming from the WS). I'd ask the question when making reservations and then again at the hotel prior to the tour. Check in is about 15 minutes prior to the start time of the tour. Bring valid ID, confirmation # and your AAA card.

We were staying at the Beach Club Villas, but we had to take a $12 cab ride to the main entrance to Epcot. The International Gateway did not open until 9 AM and we had booked the 8:30 tour. There are no buses from the Beach Club to Epcot so the cab was our only choice
It was worth the cost of the tour as well as the cab ride. I hope I can also do it next trip.
It has become very popular. When we went in October the CM told us it was booked through the rest of the year.

My DH and I did it when we were there over a year ago. I arranged it thinking that he would like it, which he did. But it ended up being my favorite thing from that trip and probably my favorite activity ever. I'm doing it with my DD when we go to WDW next month. It's not cheap, but is very worth the $.

Very Interesting. We did the 8:30 tour twice last January and entered through the International Gateway at 8am both times with no problem. We just told the CM we had a tour scheduled and they let us right through. I'd be sure to ask before hailing a cab and spending $12.

I have the Around the World Tour booked for Feb. I only called two weeks ago and had no trouble geeting the date and time I wanted - during Presidnet's week, no less.
We are on the 9:30 tour (not really into the getting up too early on vacation!)
Will we be able to get the bus from POP Century for that?
Can't wait. I've never heard a bad review of this.

We did the tour at Epcot and wouldn't do it again. The first hour is instructions for those who haven't riden one yet. We have one and ride it all the time, so it was a waste of money for us. But it was our choice, so I can't complain.

Just buy one and you will not regret it. It is loads of fun - DO IT AND ENJOY

Tomorrow morning - it's off to the wild blue wonder for our flight to Orlando.
Will be doing the Segway tour for the first time. Have read great reviews on this board about the tour & we are all really looking forward to it (4 adults).

Foxfire.... Did you take the segway tour on Dec 1, 2005? If you did DH and I were on that tour with you! Your picture is a little hard to see the faces, but you look like people we were on tour with.
