This was something I've wanted to do for years and could never work it into our family vacation schedule. So while on a business trip in August I managed to get a few extra hours before my plane left and got PS for the tea at 2:30 one Thursday afternoon.
It was an absolutely fantastic experience. I went for the Grand Tea and loved everything about it. The standouts were the sandwiches, the trifle, and the scones and cream. I must say, in all honesty, the scones I make myself are better - but I slave over them every year! These were the next best I've had though!
Since I'd had business meeting all day I was fairly dressed up (skirted suit) - and I was the most dressed up in the place. I sat next to a very nice couple from NY who spoke to me occasionally. They and everyone else in the place were dressed in nice park clothing.
All in all, I'd say this was the most fun eating experience I've ever had alone. The seating is conducive to having the adjacent diners speak to you, the wait staff was outstanding, the food was great - and I ended up feeling like a princess!
One warning, if you do one of the big tea choices don't plan on eating again for a long time!!!!
