My husband and I are planning a short break from the kids over the Memorial Day weekend. We haven't been to WDW just the two of us in a while and We are thinking Friday night to Monday night...

We've been to WDW several times, both with the kids and without... but never for such a short stay. We're really looking for a little "us" time to recharge our batteries, but want the option of playing in the parks a little bit, maybe trying a resort we haven't stayed at before..

Would appreciate it if anyone would share their short stays with me, and tell me if they would do it again.

Thanks!

i have gone on two friday to sunday jaunts in the past year. and loved it. got jsut enough to satisfy my fix. one time i took the two dd's and we commandoed the parks and rode every major ride at all four parks in two days. the second time went with bil and we golfed one day and just relaxed and drank around epcot the other. fantastic times both

I have done several three night stays anf I love them. Two days in the park gives you enough time to do everything that you really want to do. Just go enjoy yourself!

Next weekend (long-Friday eve arrival, Tuesday afternoon departure) will be the longest period we have stayed at WDW. We now are within 5 hours driving, and we only go at off-peak times. We have found that we can do (guessing of course) as much in our mini trip at off season, as somone going for a week at Christmas holiday season....with a lot less stress from crowds and standing in line all day. The only problem I am having is trying to schedule all the nighttime shows and fireworks. If it rains one night we will miss one of them...But it's OK......And I don't think I could EVER get DH to stay longer than 4 nights.....

Wife and I did a Friday morning to Monday morning over Columbus day weekend 2004, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Savannah view - had a blast - can't wait to do it again!

We've done 2 nights and are doing an almost 3 night (arriving 10pm) in 2 weeks. It was a great fix. The hardest part of the 2 night was figuring out what night time show I could miss as we couldn't double up parks due to the schedule

Just did Oct. 28-30 was a great time had by all.

I wish we could do a short three day trip, but with almost nine hours of travel time from the west coast it takes two whole days of travel. Sometimes we take a long weekend in Las Vegas and its always fun. If we could, we'd do that in WDW in a heartbeat.

We just did Oct 28-31, the shortest trip we ever took. We arrived at the Boardwalk around 3PM on Friday the 28th and left the Boardwalk at 5:30PM on Monday the 31st.

And surprisingly...we did everything we wanted to and had a blast with MNSSHP, Party for the Senses, and Food & Wine. We didn't bother with AK or DTD this trip, mainly focused on MK and Epcot.

I just did October 28-30. Arrived Friday about 3 and left Sunday about 11am.

Had a great time and did mostly Food & Wine Festival.

However, our shortest trip was back in April. It was very last minute.

We left Friday after work and drove as far as Macon, GA and spent the night there, then got to WDW about 2pm Saturday. We spent Saturday afternoon at Epcot and the Studios, then went to Pleasure Island. Sunday morning, we went to Epcot for about 2 hours, then drove straight home. (We have about an 11 hour drive).

We had to stay offsite as we didn't decide to go till Thursday evening, but it was still fun.

The reason for the trip was hubby had just gotten a new car a couple of weeks before with a Navigation System and we just had to test it out. Plus our APs were calling to us :teeth:

We just did a 3 night stay at AKL this past October. My bf and I both started new jobs and didn't have any vacation time yet, so the most we could take off was 4 days.

Pros of a short trip:
-get your Disney fix
-great way to try out going to Disney during a different time of year then you normally go
-great way to stay at a Deluxe hotel you normally couldn't afford b/c its only a few nights

Cons of a short trip:
-You might feel rushed since you have a short time/ no time to relax
-The way Disney does their packages/MYW tickets its not that much more $$ to stay longer, so you might not save a lot of money by going for a short trip.
- I always get jealous hearing other people on the bus say "and next saturday we have reservations for Hoop dee doo..." and I'm thinking i'll be at work then :rotfl:

I would think that with only the two of you, you could cover a lot of ground. I guess it really depends on how much the airfare is, whether it's in your budget, etc. If you can afford it, I say go ahead and enjoy yourselves! It'll be good for the marriage, and as the experts always say, the best thing you can do for your kids is to have a healthy marriage! Please let us know what you decide! :sunny:

We're leaving Dec. 2nd and coming back Dec. 5th. We're going down to do Epcot on Saturday with the candelight processional package and MVMCP on Sunday.

We have tried to do this every year since 2001. One time we went for 5 days without the kids and that was toooooo long. We missed them so much. 3-4 days is just right for us. It is a whole different experience with no kids, we love it. :sunny:

We got in on Weds. night around midnight at AKL and left Sat. morn in enough time to make it to DS's football game.

We went down for the Food and Wine festival for our 20th anniversary.

I would do it again in a heartbeat. :flower:

DD (now14) and I (sometimes DH) have had plenty of fri-sun weekends in our past. But never on a holiday weekend. Either way, if you just keep in mind that you may have looooooong waits for shows, rides and even food (TS or CS), then you could have a great time. Easy to get around w/out kids too. Have fun ::MickeyMo

We just got back Wednesday from a 3 night trip and stayed at Coronado Springs. We are 55+, no kids, and had a great time. We had the DDE card, plus I had some left over quick & casual vouchers that I used for the RibEye dinner at the Pepper Market. We went down to meet friends from Scotland. I took them to eat with Cinderella, dinner at the Castle on Monday night. It was lovely and they took DDE. MK was open to 11PM all the night that were were there, so we saw Wishes and Spectro.

We did a supershort in May of 2003--memorial day weekend is usually our anniversary weekend. We flew out at 7pm on Friday and stayed Friday and Saturday night with a late Sunday night flight home. The only thing I might have done differently is to book for three nights and keep the hotel room all day--or book at a resort that is closer to the parks we were going to, We stayed at CSR and we were only going to MK, and Epcot (flower and garden festival) with a special Anniversary dinner at California Grill. All agenda plans considered we should have stayed at CR. We would have had more "time" to do what we wanted and less time in transport.

We just went Nov 10 to the 13th. We flew out of Boston nonstop on Jetblue, Thurs night 6:30 flight, on time, arrived early, caught the ME bus easily and were checking in at the resort at (9:45 p.m.!!!) Check out Jet blue there are lots of flighttimes, and in my experience, the earlier you book, the cheaper it will be!
We had a 3 night myw ticket with dining, and a 2 day parkhopper. We had 2 full days for parkhopping, meals, and shopping. Everything was open early and late because of the holiday weekend, which should be the same for you. It was just great. Felt weird without the kids, but it was amazing how much energy you have when you are only taking care of yourself!! I really felt as if we were gone longer! We were up had a leisurely breakfast Sun morn and more shopping, and caught ME at noon for our 2:40 flight nonstop home, again, on time, arrived early!
Have a great time!!
