Anyone ever do a long weekend at WDW??

We've done a bunch of long weekend trips; sometimes even just 2-nighters if we get good air rates. We actually just got back yesterday from a 3-nighter. We're AP holders, and own our own condo in Kissimmee, so that helps to make it an easier decision. We've found that if you plan to just visit one or two parks, make AR's and use Fastpass wisely, you can do and see a LOT in one weekend!

I live in Ma, so for a quick trip, flying is the only option. Last year I flew down alone on a Friday morning and came home on a Monday afternoon. It was great.
In July DH and I are flying down Friday morning and returning Sunday night. Yes, its quick and we wont do everything, but since we are getting a babysitter those days are all we could swing...and I cant think of a better way to spend our 10th anniversary! :cool1:

We did a "short" weekend just a few weeks ago. The APs were still good. We had gotten a new car with a navigation system in it and just had to try it out :-)

We left Friday after work and drove as far as Macon, GA and spent the night. We arrived at WDW about 2pm Saturday and parked at Downtown Disney. We walked over to Saratoga Springs and hopped a bus to Magic Kingdom and saw the parade, had lunch at the Plaza restaurant, went to Stitch and Carousel of Progress.

We then went over to Epcot and wandered World Showcase, saw the British Invasion, and one other live performance (can't remember what), then had dinner at Chef's de France. We wandered out the International Gateway, and browsed our way through those resorts, then off to Pleasure Island. We Kungalooshed at Adventurer's Club for awhile, then went to our hotel on 192.

Early the next morning we went back to Epcot to catch Soarin', then shopped at MouseGears for a bit, then headed home.

It was a wonderful little getaway for us :-) (FYI, our drive to WDW is just under 700 miles.)

Would anyone do this with a 1 year old? We are planning a week long trip for October 2006 when our DS is 2. However, we have thought about taking a long weekend trip this December to see the Christmas decorations. Just wondering if it would be as enjoyable with packing everything for a short trip as well as having nap times during the day. Any thoughts?

My boyfriend and I are planning on going for 3 days, 2 nights in October. We're catching an early flight there, and a late flight back home. We plan on visiting all four parks and DTD because, well, we're crazy. ;) lol I have a tentative itinerary planned, and it does seem possible. :wizard:

Do it!
We live in South Florida and have been to WDW many, many times. With one or two exceptions, we have only taken 3 or 4 day trips. You'd be amazed how much you can do it you take a commando attitude!

We took a 5 week old for a 2 night stay last July. We were AP holders at the time and had some guests from Japan visiting who wanted to go to WDW. So we drove 500 miles from Atlanta leaving Friday night after work and spending all day Saturday at MK and Sunday at DS. Talk about crazy, it was me, dw, dd(9), dd(7), ds(5wks) and 2 Japanese teens who spoke very little English and we don't speak Japanese. We drove back to Atlanta Sunday night and I somehow made it to work on Monday.

Now that our ds is 11mths he is a bit more challenging at the parks. We have AP's to US this year and there is not much he can do there. However we just got back from a 3 night stay the weekend before Memorial Day and had a great time. He got to ride ET and Cat in the Hat for the 1st time (must be able to walk 3 steps in order to ride). He still like Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh better!

We love the quick trips just to get away and have family time at the parks. We look forward to 2006 when we get our Disney AP's again. :cool1:

This is a great thread! I was hoping to do this next March. Now I see it really can be done and you can have a great time without doing it all. :cool1:

DH and I have been talking...and all your answers have inspired us! Although August is probably too busy and hot for us, we checked the calendar and DS's 4th birthday is a Friday this year (Sept 23).

Sooooo...we're thinking about heading out late late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning and then coming home Sunday. It'll be about 2 months before we go back for a longer trip, but so what? We have AP's and some extra points...if I think about it hard enough, it could cost the same as a long weekend somewhere up here.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I can justify ANYTHING!!!!

My DW and I did the same thing for our 10th last October, but we did Friday-Monday (Columbus day weekend) and we had a great time! Dinner one night at our favorite restaurant, California Grill. Then for the "official" anniversary dinner, we sprung for Victoria and Alberts. Great way to celebrate a special anniversary. Like you, we couldn't think of a better way to spend our 10th.
(BTW - what part of MA are you from? We're in Northampton.)
